Not to mention the ease to actually make changes to your team…

And the notifications on the app when your player is listed as injured.
Would be handy if it occurs prior to selection. Sheldrick was listed injured on Tuesday.

I reckon Burgoyne is inter (from) so you’re still in with a shot.

Just double checked and you’re right. Listed as B4 so there is hope.

Just need Grundy to not come up and ladhams come in

I’m now four short in the mids with Mitchell managed and Prestia subbed out, season going to be over before it started with no Cs available on FA

I’ve got 17 players, just missing a ruckman.

Considering there isn’t a midfielder in the free agency pool that is selected this weekend, and only one ruckman who made the extended bench, there’s going to be some donuts this year.

I have too many mids even after trading away Will Day. Lol.

I am fine in most positions but have over recruited backs so come trade period will be looking to offload defenders for depth elsewhere. Should have no donuts which is nice

If anyone is holding on to excess positions, one way or another it should slowly find its way into FAs as injuries take hold. That’s one of the advantages of having LTIs within your list. But for the first few rounds, I’d assume coaches would delist the players at lower levels who aren’t performing or need more time or the injured player themselves (outside of obvious premium players).
Even if a player drops an injured player, another coach without injuries themselves may wish to drop excess positions to take on that injured player.

Another thing we could do is open up trading through the early bye rounds as well as mid season. That’s rounds 2 to 6, then again between 12 and 15. It’ll give teams a better chance to fill positional needs and also lessen the load on FAs. Unfortunately due to the timing of FAs and Thursday games in the AFL schedule, FAs aren’t going to help as much as I’d originally hoped to help fill a weekly. Happy to have people’s thoughts on this through the weekend.

I’m also looking at how AFL Fantasy does their FAs as I am unlikely to be able to handle FAs manually next season. This is my fifth season doing FAs and I think that’s about the max it can be handled before someone else takes over or we look at alternatives.

I don’t think it’s a timing issue mate. It’s a lack of options available. The issue is there isn’t anything on the FA market in the position people need as we need 126 Cs each week before even considering depth.

I doubt we could change post the start of the season but maybe 5-5-1-5 + 2 utilities would help (if that’s possible)?

I think, Blummers, you’re right that we should open up an early season trade period since a lot of us are still learning AFL fantasy (to that end if someone wants to offer me overs for Sam Berry or Thomson Dow I’m all ears :sunglasses:)

The utility option is the winner but AFL fantasy doesn’t offer it. They really need to.

ah dangit

It was going to be tough going early in the year. Multi positional players needed to be played as midfielders.
But there aren’t enough multi positional players and there could still be a preference to play them in the other position instead of in the middle like we did previously.

I’m holding two multi position players and now that Robertson isn’t injured, I can let go of the other given my forwards look reliable.
But I couldn’t do that on Wednesday night because I wasn’t aware of the other team selections so had to stick with the player that I knew would play. There is very little difference to holding FA on Wednesday night as apposed to Tuesday the way fixturing is.
Once we get the Friday night opening round games and FAs on Thursday nights after all team selections have been made, it makes it far easier to see what you need and don’t need from a week to week basis. By then, we’ll have more multi positional players.

I had a look at whether I could change the team selection setting, but it won’t let me change that once the draft begins.
