They get 49,000 to Good Friday because North have thousands less reserved seat members. As a result there’s thousands more seats they can sell as GA or reserved for this game meaning they will be utilised. Smaller clubs with less members are able to fill use the capacity more optimally.
And our dumb club would have agreed
Why wouldn’t we?
We have to play in Adelaide that round anyway, why not guarantee it is on the main ground, and get it played in prime time. Seems like a no brainer to accept (if offered and not told) to me.
So we effectively get an additional away game next season playing port at home in gather round, great.
No excuses. Carlton played Adelaide in Gather Round and made a Prelim.
Its not about winning and losing for me, its about being able to see Essendon play an Adelaide team in Adelaide every other year
Yep, lost the neutrality like v Melb last year and gained a genuine interstate away game to add to the 6 we’ll already have plus another trip to Geelong Im guessing.
Be good for our draft pick I guess.
Our draw was always going to be trash when you finish mid table, ie. 11th.
I’m expecting a minimum 6 away trips, and a rotten first few months.
After all the media sooking this year, we won’t be copping WCE and North twice. Best I can see is something like Hawthorn in Round 1, Brisbane away in Round 2, North Round 3, PA away in Round 4, Collingwood in Round 5, Sydney away in Round 6, Geelong in Geelong Round 7. I fully expect a hellish first 2 month draw.
The media sooking re us having an easy draw was ridic considering we’d finished bottom 4 the year before.
We also had Pies, Port, GWS & the reigning premiers all twice.
I agree. Our draw was a hard draw. Our last two games were against the premiers and gws who could have been premiers.
Our draw can’t be as you suggest. Anzac Day is 2-3 weeks after our port game in Adelaide.
But GWS at end of 2022 when 2023 draw announced weren’t expected to be formidable. We had bottom two teams twice, what more did we want? The fixture is the fixture. If we’re good enough it won’t matter. Until we’re a trusted, consistent and respected football team, we can’t complain about the fixture. That said, our fixture in 2023 was more than reasonable all things equal. No point complaining about fixtures. Embrace it, be positive…
this
It gives me the S…s thst footy fans think the world is against their team. In this case we always get the bad fixture. The AFL hates us. The umpires hate us (only us btw) etc. truth is, we do it to ourselves by being a hopeless club for decades. Get our act together and get on with it. And the umpires don’t only hates us btw
being crap for so long has supporters wanting advantages to make up for our crappiness
life wasn’t meant to be easy
adversity makes you stronger
plus any other proverb that fits
I think it makes sense to complain about the draw that hasn’t happened alongside our draft picks that haven’t been taken.
blitz doesn’t procrastinate with its complaining
Last year we played Melbourne in gather rnd which made it a netrual game
Was hoping for another netrural game. essentially got an extra away game
Watch the pies get fark all
Give us a tough fixture for all I care. The last thing I want is a soft draw inflating our own opinion of ourselves and a worse draft pick than our list warrants.
How do you know we get an extra interstate game?
For all you know we get more double up games in Melbourne or something
