2024 mid season draft

5 year age gap probably doesn’t help (Between Narkle then and Peris now). Peris only turned 20 in December (only 3 months older than the Daveys).
I wouldn’t be against giving Peris a 6month deal if there aren’t any other small forwards that look the goods. Can’t see him doing any worse than what we have.

His highlights from his one game for St Kilda look fantastic. But given he didn’t get another look in, and apparently isn’t setting the world on fire in the VFL, the highlights probably don’t tell the full story.

We have enough middling to poor small forwards on our list (based on current output), we don’t need to add another. Unless there’s hidden gem available in the MSD, we should add a quality small forward via the National draft or FA.

The addition of peris is for a temporary upgrade on Davey for this year. He likely won’t be a long term option, but if we are intending to do anything of note this year peris would be a much better option than Davey in that small forward role. I think he won state or national championships as a runner, plus he isn’t a liability if he is doing the role of pressure and tackling, as he isn’t as timid as alwyn and actually has a crack. It’s kinda what the mid season draft was all about upon inception.

Giving someone a 6month contract in the MSD would have absolutely no bearing on us chasing one at the end of the year.

And who knows, they might just surprise.

he’s no better or worse…he’s fast thats it, maybe more defensive
Oskar Smartt most goals
Jayden Davey - best highlight reel
Peris - probably defensive best tackler.

Opportunity cost. If we daft a ‘hail mary’ small forward just because we can, then we aren’t selecting the best available and could miss out on a Sam Durham. If there is a small forward with a decent shot at an AFL career then yeah, I say go for it.

I’d take this.

Kind of depends what you’re looking for. He can definitely play as a pressure forward Is he good enough beyond that is open to debate. 5 games @15ppg, 0.8 goals per game, 3 tackles per game. Fairly consistent with his 2023 numbers.

I think it’s fairly unlikely we’d take him. Smartt looks a more dangerous forward, but Peris is quicker and better defensively, but short of us wanting exactly that type of defensive player I don’t see a lot of value

If Draper’s knee is worst than reported and needs an operation to fix, is big Vigo a chance?

Surely Bryan is next in line.

I tend to agree. Can’t see much benefit of Peris over Hind, actually. Other than age. But you never know.

So if Draper goes under the knife and is out for the year, you are comfortable with only having 2 rucks on the list?

How does someone saying Bryan is next in line somehow remove Vigo’s ability as a Ruckman?

Is Vigo available to play for us? I assumed he was VFL listed

He’s on the AFL list (as a rookie).
He’s only 18 - Showing some amazingly promising signs, but won’t be overtaking Bryan this year.

It’s early day but he does seem to have more of a forward presence about him than our other rucks which is fantastic

Vigo was picked up in the rookie draft and is on the main list.

Well that is different then, I assumed we only had 3 rucks on our list

What happened to Jorgensen reckon we should have gave him a rookie spot

We are probably above average of amount of players over 200cm on our list

Draper
Vigo
Reid
Bryan
Goldstein
McKay
Cox
