I’ve read through the draft spec here for months and I still can’t decide on what I want to happen with our first two picks on draft night. Sharp sounds like a great player but I worry he isn’t what we need most. When I look at our lineup most weeks, it’s still the lack of speed and damaging disposal that I see holding us back. Then again, it’s hard not to want Sharp in terms of a guaranteed floor level of ability and exceptional attitude.

Just read that article Riley Beveridge wrote on AFL.com about Sharp…I thought there was a good chance that he slid to us but after reading that I think West Coast would be crazy to let him slide.

If Sharp goes at 2 we’re basically guaranteed one of Robey or Taylor. If he doesn’t then in all likelihood he gets to us at pick 4/5 and we sprint the card in.

I’ve said it before but I’m very comfortable where we sit and the players that will be available.

West Coast saying they’ll likely use 1 and 2 in the draft.

“The strong likelihood is we’ll take one and two unless something unbelievable came out from one of those offers,” Pyke told reporters.

“You never say never, but at this point we get the opportunity to take the best two young men in the draft and that’s what we’ll look to do.”

makes sense for them for sure

If Huss gets a bid around 40 and by that stage we have used up our picks in the top 30, is it worth going into deficit for next year and how would that work if we did?

Huss has been regualry rated as a 30-35 selection in many mock drafts. Is this his genuine standing or more “this is Essendons pick and where they are likely/expected to take him as an NGA”?

For me, no.

You will see us trade back until he is bid on….. or we trade a future 3rd rounder for a late pick to match it.

Very easy to work around.

I think it’ll be more about available list spots. If we use 5 picks, or 4 picks plus match on Sweid, then we probably won’t have room for Huss on the main list (unless I’m wrong).

And yet, you have replied to 1100 posts of Nino’s. 3 times more than the next highest poster on your list.

So either you actually really like his posts and are really engaged with them, or perhaps you are actually a part of the problem, not the solution.

LOL, yeah it’s my fault that Nino was banned for acting like an idiot..

Give it a break.

Might have to be a 2027 third - we already traded our F3 next year for Fiorini.

EDIT: 2027 third won’t be worth much though actually, given it’s the Tassie draft. And we’ll probably need to hang on to our first & second rounders that year for Bewick points.

I’d say the most likely scenario, is that we keep trading that 3rd second rounder back until a bid comes.

That might also be our chance to get a future 3rd rounder.

Yeah, nah, he’s right.

If you complain about Nino but also engage then yes, you’re part of the problem.

Or he takes responsibility for his own behaviour.

Phantom draft tomorrow?

There’s already been like 50 phantom drafts.

Do you mean Cal’s?
