He is quite a Dodoro pick to my mind. Skinny, high upside, no clearly defined position.
He’s good value for a pick in the 20s.
But the draft is so even there’s gonna be a bunch of other guys around that mark that suits us better than medium forward/maybe midfielder

If Dyson Heppell turns up on draft night to award a draftee his first club gurnsey you just know ….
Cal made reference also to Fremantle being the club most linked to Sweid outside of us - which backs up the poster here, close with the family, who said months ago this was the case. Freo with pick 20 then, pre shenanigans, seems like it’s the first big watch on him being bid on.
Cal has different heights again for Cumming (184) and Schubert (197)
Schubert was 198 all year, then he become a 194cm forward at the combine, now he’s 197 again.
Welcome to Essendon. Will fit in perfectly.
So some players Cal thinks we have been looking at for our 3rd pick if trade up or keep pick 21
Marsh
Pickett
Heargeaves
Schubert
Farrow
Greeves
Yeah its frustrating, especially for Schubert as the difference between 194 and 197 is massive for a contested marker like him. With his long arms and physicality he might even be able to play some backup ruck at 197, whereas there’s no chance of that at 194.
Understand what you are saying, but Neale and Zorko have been pivotal in Brisbanes dominance. The wizard has been “huge,” pardon the pun, for Hawks. Sweid sits right between the Brisbane players for height. El Achkar is the same as the Wizard. I think if we get the right balance small pressure players are crucial in the modern game. Lumbering beanpoles that can’t football most definitely aren’t. We have plenty of them.
That’s a hell of a list for our 3rd pick in the draft. Lots of potential and options depending on what we feel we need.
a draft of Robey/Sharp/Farrow would be unreal
If they bid on him with their first pick I think we won’t match tbh.
Essendon is looking at the Blues pick 9 or 11 for a trade swap situation Twomey is reporting on gettable

Open question to all, but I know @noobermensch watched them all extremely closely, based on their junior careers only, how would you power rank these guys if they were all available in the same draft pool?
@THE_DON1 kind of had a crack at this a few months back by doing a power ranking for last year and this year’s draft combined
I reckon it would be super surprising to not see(of the non academy guns)
Duursma, CDT and Taylor called out as the top 3.
The question then becomes who does Richmond take with their second selection.
I don’t really enjoy doing this honestly. Its difficult to rank players that played in different years against different levels of competition.
I’ll say in general I think last years top end group was a little stronger and certainly much deeper. I think I had it going back into the mid teens with what I considered to be elite prospects. Our two picks fortunately fall inside the top group, but after us and Melbourne’s picks it starts become increasingly polarised, filled with guys like Mitch Marsh who could be amazing but has a higher bust potential to my mind. I think that is main difference… that this years group is a little less certain - each of the prospects this year has something in their game or their background that could end up being a major flaw or perhaps not at all. I think this years group will still produce a lot of elite AFL players, but a higher than usual number of busts, especially once you get into the teens and later.
Seems Cal thinks Sharp falls to Bombers and we will likely take him
