We really need some speed on the wings and the midfield….. and even the HBF.
We are far too one paced.
We have one genuine quick player on our list, which is Kako. I couldn’t even name the next quickest.

Kako is not that quick. He has been caught many times trying to outrun opponents chasing him.
Fast players often get caught due to hanging onto the ball when they can’t see an option up field.
McMahon is our only forward that seems to be able to lead towards the ball carrier. Once we improve this Kako will be far more dangerous.
Plus, for some reason, our kids often don’t take the first option to kick at goal, this must be a coaching instruction.
No doubt his performance will improve with a more functional forward line and getting up to AFL speed in reactions with more exposure. He still isn’t quick even though he is still probably the fastest we have.
There is also ‘quick’ interms of agility (side ways movement), acceleration ( 5 meter burst), speed (what speed they reach after 10 meters).
IMO the first 2 are vital for being a small forward in the AFL, and you need to critique Dodoro and Forster-Knight for refusing to acknowledge this. Tippa was the only one over the last 15 years, who had this. We continue with slow small forwards…. Even looking at Unwinn and Smarte
You look at someone like Lovett, who had the acceleration and speed…. But not so great with the agility.
Key forwards leading aggressively whilst smalls zipping around. Why not?
Mayhem for opposition backs.
Temu unfortunately
Unwin is pretty quick isn’t he? Agreed Smartt is slow as hell.
Quick, not fast.
Yes
I agree expect i would say Nguyen is very fast and unwin can be quick so hopefully they come on.
Overall though I was replying to the post we should be trading out of the draft when I think we need to take as many early picks as we can this year
If we get a pick after our first for Draper, we should try and split it to try and get 2 later first round picks. Get 6 picks inside the top 25 plus the 2 X NGA’s. Bring in 2026 third and fourth rounders if required for NGA points.
I dunno we have to cut a lot of players. I’d hope we would go quality over quantity. So if there’s scope to trade UP I think that would be good.
A rebuild yeah but ideally over a couple of drafts.
Especially if there’s not a lot of standout prospects
We are already struggling with list spots so you would be better to trade into the future for some extra value and perhaps some points for ngas and then you can delist a few more next year when you hopefully don’t have as much strain on list spots. Unless we are using a fair bit of draft capital for trade purposes of course.
I think we have to maximise our draft position this year while we have it because iam willing to bet my left nut that next year with a full list and no injuries Brad sky rockets us to usually position of 11th and everyone calls it win
Anyone here can easily pick 10+ players we can ditch without even trying.
Alternatively, we can trade one of the 3 x 2025 firsts for a later first and a 2026 first.
Recreate the death ride and spread the risk of drafting so many players with early picks into next year.
I think it’s best to get as many talented kids in as early as possible. Can always trade out some older players with a bit of talent next year. Parish, Redman, Ridley, etc if they don’t recapture their best form. There will be teams wanting them if they don’t miss a lot of games with injuries.
Excellent, will they all be kicking rainbows all around the field
Probably 2 for each given the first 22 will be injured
Yeah. But it’s crap in vs crap out we get nothing. Need to target someone useful if we sell off contracted players. Windhager Has to be a target IMO
Windhager right on the precipice of being a top 100 player in the AFL. We should be targeting role players who will play every week via trade and then hope like hell we can hit the draft lottery with these picks we’ve had over the last (including 2025) three drafts. Potentially up to 25 list changes over 3 years is massive
