Xavier is a good player, but not a difference maker. You’d hope for at least one player at Merrett level or above.

I would say we could trade saints second rounder which was basically free for us for Zane Duursma and then deal for Willem with one of our extra first rounders and a second rounder back from the Eagles.
Sorry I meant 2 first rounders for pick 2 from the Eagles and a second round pick back

We traded a pick in a strong draft that was used on Hugh Boxshall - last week’s rising star.
Wouldn’t describe it as free.

Rosa said they didn’t miss any of their targets last year as a result of the trade - your right we could hav picked another player but not someone the club was looking at - that’s why I say no cost (obviously there is a real cost but we didn’t miss out on players as a result that year)

i think the top ten to fifteen are all going to be very good players, outside the three you mentioned there are plenty that would fit us nicely Sharp would be amazing but i think he goes closer to pick one which will spit out one the three you mentioned and there is CDT especially if draper goes and Cumming and Greeves all shaping very well

Do we need Greeves? No defensive game and slow - Duursma is quick and versatile. CDT - we have Bryon - who is 5 years more developed and right in line to be in his prime when we are challenging. Personally there are some really good wingers I like the look of but we have Clarke and Xavier Duursma there already so I reckon we need a super versatile high end talent that can play half back, wing, on ball and half forward and that would be Willem

So if Draper leaves looks like we will have 3 draft picks inside the top 8 ish, are we just picking 3 running skillful HF/HB that one day might play midfield? With Swied and Huss being our 2nd rounders to play forward.

your obviously not drafting for next year so you have to look at long term problems and balance that with best available, to get up the board we are going to have to give away alot especially when we have so many holes to fill.
id rather we take two players and with the third (provided draper leaves) we field offers for a future pick

Putting depth aside which parts are the ones to focus on?
I think one of our biggest deficiencies is a lack of leg speed.
To our youth watchers are there any players that would satisfy this need that could fill wing, half back and small forward roles?

Half forward but no small forward there is one player that can do all that which is Duursma (Willem)

I think as many classy kids as we can get in this year the better. I just hope we can get one or 2 experienced on field leaders to guide them.
Our kids this year have done a great job considering the loads they have been forced to carry.

i like Clarke on the wing personally, that would leave a spot that needs to be filled maybe its Johnson or SEH but if Lindsay or Duursma falls that would be a great fit for us in that spot, i think we need to work on our midfield with that in mind id like to see Durham moved to the HFF as he is dangerous up forward and have stints in the midfield thats where sharp would be good for us or we leave Durham in the guts full time and go with Cumming who can play that forward mid role. May and Mcmahon and even 2mp are shaky long term prospects to partner with caddy so thats where CDT or mitch marsh might fit in long term and theres no promises Bryan or Vigo make it so CDT could take that spot.
then i would like us to be able to replace redman, we cant rely on the back we have as they are injured more than they play so thats another area and we need more small dangerous forwards iam hoping Huss and Sweid help with this, and then we need some young mids as depth to replace guys like parish shiel and eventually merrett over the next years.
and thats without putting a great deal of thought into
