As a rando floating in here.
Is there a Wanganeen-Milera type we can draft?
Cos we need that.
EOM
Josh Lindsay. Here’s a link my playlist for him:
Highlights pack looks decent. I find it so hard to judge these kids from year to year.
What do you think from various drafts. One of the better flanker/ distributors in recent years or just the most obvious selection this year?
I can’t think of a better back flanker in recent years. His name sake Xavier Lindsay was a strong prospect last year but played more of his juniors as a midfielder and we were more projecting him as a potential back flanker going forward.
He’s one of the best kicks of the footy I’ve seen coming through. He has all of them in his bag. The longer distance kick, the searing dart, the touch kick. Hits targets over every distance and difficulty. Can miss from time to time but he looks for the corridor option more than anyone in the pool so maintaining 80+% DE given the average degree of difficulty is outstanding.
Wrong thread?
A good kick? Sold.
May not last to our picks. In fact good chance he doesn’t.
Could be so, but I’d be a little surprised. Even with the change to how the game is being played, I reckon it would be unusual to see a back flanker taken that high.
I think it depends a little on if Richmond have 2 picks before us.
The higher we get up that draft order, the chance we have to find a kid who will slot straight into a role for us.
Lindsay would be a fantastic aquisition, and absolutely fits a need for us.
I spend a lot of time on the Tigs board on big footy. Taking the temperature there, their number 1 need is an elite midfielder - reckon they jump on Sharp if WC pass him, and probably look at Greeves if Sharp is gone. They could go for Lindsay with a second pick, but I think CDT would be perfectly in line with the way they picked last year. They consistently went for the longer term prospect with the higher perceived talent level.
The aints instead of whinging simply ask for a better zone for their academy.
That’s what we should be doing too.
I mean that probably means a less generous zone for the northern clubs by proxy. But it sounds heaps better than ■■■■■■■ on someone else’s setup
We all know that our selection numbers will balloon out after academy bids but there’s also a good chance our NGA’s aren’t selected before our 2nd round picks. Do we turn the two selections into a potential 1st round selection and then trade for later picks to get the Calder boys. Will be interesting to see it play out
I’d reckon that GC first pick, and potentially Sydney’s, would be on the table.
I wonder if Essendon will pass on sweid if he gets a bid inside the second round. I can’t see he’s really a player we need unless we trade out hobbs, tsatas and sheil might be delisted. Will be interesting to see.
Isn’t this the point of where we need to go though? Sticking with a Hobbs type which we have an abundance of or switch tact to a different type? We need to be moving on what we have an oversupply of and recruit what we lack
Pick 3?
