Clubs should all be prepared to pass if another club places an unrealistic bid. Bottom line is you have an obligation to take the best player, if that means us passing on a NGA then we should do it.
The shift of Willem out of the midfield continued here. He played as a key defender for the first three quarters of the game to decent effect, taking some intercept marks and showing that the increased time and space exiting defense helps his kicking skills significantly. With Gippsland trailing entering the fourth quarter, he was moved into the forward line and responded with a couple of goals to help surge his team to another victory and consolidate their lead at the top of the Talent League ladder.
Not sure why Essendon not matching the bis would be a worry. If they failed to match then they obviously they don’t rate him that high and believe there are better options available. I don’t subscribe to the theory that if a player has some connection to Essendon, then you have to take him. I want the best players we can get.
I suspect that @Crazy_Bomber is saying clubs may not rate a short midfielder who can’t dominate at the champs in the top 50. Nothing to do with who our list manager is.
Which makes sense because there have been a number who did dominate at the champs but slipped because they were small.
Of course, maybe Sweid will dominate the remaining 4 VM games.
