2025 FF Original Discussion thread

I had nobody to loophole him with. Was actually going to try it.

Round 4 results updated.
RFA order updated.

@Awesome_Scotty took King off RFAs. It was processed late yesterday afternoon and he was pushed to the end before I adjusted the order, so I’m leaving him at the end of the order and everyone else ahead of him gets re-ordered to reverse ladder position. I’m not sure why the system processed it like that. It looks like King was dropped before the Saints game on Sunday and he was picked up off waivers so the two days began before the Sunday game and ended prior to the typical end of round RFA which is shortly after 8pm tonight.

I picked up Zac Williams in the other league who worked in a similar way, where the RFA was processed at the end of the round Sunday night. Williams played Thursday so it was more than 2 days post his game, so the system must hold players until the conclusion of the round.

Will player positions be changing like they have in supercoach?

I’m sure I briefly saw a notification on our league site that suggested position changes were coming this week.
Will certainly help you with Draper.

yes they will and my understanding is that they are the same between AFL Fantasy/draft and Supercoach.

Changes will be as per this article:

I think they’ve been more generous with DPP players than previous years.
I wasn’t expecting Cooper Lord to be an FC. When I’ve watched him, he’s been a midfielder.
Similar deal with Ryan Byrnes. I don’t know where he’s played, but I thought wing was about right. Haven’t noticed him starting in the backline.
I half expected Peatling to be an FC. He does play at the centre bounce but finds himself elsewhere more often than not.

Not that it matters, but I was surprised that Humphries didn’t become a FC. Thought he’s had enough midfield time to warrant it. Maybe he’ll make the next run.

Only one change to this weekends games. @wimmera1 beats @The_Mad_Bomber once you add Nathan Broad’s 95 to Wimmera’s AFL Fantasy’s score.

Results updated. Ladder corrected. RFA order adjusted accordingly.

Commisserations to @Split_Infinity. I didn’t think I’d catch you being down by about 60 with 2 extra players and a quarter to go. Even with a minute to go last night, I was 10 behind. At the siren I was behind by 4 for memory, then shortly after it, it was a draw. Then later on, more adjustments went my way.
You also got the rough end of the emergency loophole stick. Banking Motlop’s 68 was a perfectly fine strategy. Both Logan Morris and Georgiades outscored him and would have won the game for you had they been selected in the 18.

I’m very lucky to escape with a victory this round. I don’t think my team is that good, so I’ll take the 4-1 record so far this season. I think the position changes will go against me though. I have decent forwards and defenders, but a lot of good midfielders got added positions, so my advantage is going to be minimised and there’s a lack of FA options to help me put a gap on other teams. I also have no ruck backup. I grabbed Charlie West off FA as he’s the only ruck eligible player that was named an emergency that was available.

I’m not sure how I handle my team during the trade period. I have good depth and options, but am short on high scoring quality in the midfield.

Sorry, @The_Mad_Bomber
It was a ■■■■ way to win but I had to do it.

Was painful to look at the result on Sunday night but I have no one to blame but myself (and Jack Ginnivan). Well played.

you’re a contender now mate, time to cash in the draft picks for premos

@wimmera1 I was feeling pretty happy with our record, but it is not so good now.

Its fair enough, I have no complaints.

Classic was updated Sunday night and Draft will be updated within a couple of days.
Two days later and nothing updated yet.

They wouldn’t let this run until tomorrow night would they?

Nick Bryan long term injury… do i just carry him or do we have an injury list?

There’s no injury list.
He sits in your list of 30 or drop him back to FAs.

Holding certain players definitely worked out in that dpp adjustment.
Having 12 dual position players is handy, but also makes selections a head scratcher

No empty spots in team’s 18 so results stand. No need to update ladder or RFA order.

Well done to @Crazy_Bomber. That was a total smashing and even at my best, I strongly doubt I could have matched that 1520 score.

For me…

The good so far this year…

  • The backline is very solid. I’m getting 70+ weekly from 4 players and I’m mainly relying on Milera or McDonald to out perform their average.
  • The forward line is battling at best. About 65+ weekly from all the players, but some wild swings between their best and worst.
  • Some positive player development happening. Roberts looks to be a premium defender for a few years. Bice should follow his lead. Mackenzie is finally getting consistent games and should be a 90+ scorer in the next few years.
  • I have performed better than expected to this point in the season, but I’m not confident I can hold my spot in the top 6 and am most likely a mid ladder team this year.

The bad so far this year…

  • The midfield is struggling badly. I have no one who can 100+ this year let alone do it every few weeks. It’s a major concern and speaks to the way I’ve put this team together prioritising the forward line and back line above all.
  • My ruck position is under performing, but there should be some improvement here. Marshall should push his average back towards 100 as the year goes on. And I got some luck to have grabbed Goldstein out of free agency last week before the Draper injury.
  • Noah Balta was a bit of a flyer pick. It looks like Richmond will back him in so he’s worth taking a shot with until it’s clear what happens with his court case.

The ugly so far this year…

  • Jamarra not getting a game is going to be difficult to hold. His trade value is next to zero, yet I still think another team (maybe Essendon) will get desperate and take a chance on him at the end of the season.
  • Oscar Allen has been next to useless. He’s a monty to be traded. I’m sure he’s a good chance to become a decent scorer when he gets to Hawthorn next year. Very much like Tom Lynch moving from the Suns to the Tigers.
  • My entire interchange looks so different to previous years. I’ve leaned towards depth than development players. Liam Ryan, Dylan Stephens, Goldstein and Balta all fit in that category. I rate Shoemaker, Sheldrick, Walter and Lord and still think they could break out sometime this year, but they are just as likely to continue developing / biding their time. Taylor and Laurie are just gambles that could easily find their way back on the free agency list.
