2025 FF Original Discussion thread

Having a bit of a meltdown pregame for both leagues.

Players out, raiding the FA’s, should I sub tonight’s players? What if they get injured in the first five minutes? Which one of my very average 16-22 players should I name?

:grimacing:

We are going to need a miracle from here, looks like Allblack is on his way to the second week.

Well, ■■■■.
CB tried his very best to lose and only just failed.

Bad luck mate. Hard when your key forwards do that to you. Dear and Hogan killed you

I guess. I tend to go for key forwards over small forwards as I know they probably get targeted more by their team. Starvation corner is a thing so I tend not to get small forwards unless they have more strings to their bow, such as tackling and forward pressure or being a good field kick (or if I love them like Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti who tackles too). as they say in the classics “You live and die by the sword”. Consider me sliced and diced for season 2025.

Good luck next week @Allblack !

I don’t know how we managed a win ( bad luck Red) but it remains completely academic. We’ve now lost Will Day, from what I can see we won’t get anyone back of any use in the next fortnight and a heap of others are legit chances to be the sub on any given week. Shambles.

A big thanks to CB for helping the death ride by eliminating my first round pick holders in successive weeks.

Time to draft some spuds to ruin the opportunity

Wow, managed to make it to a Prelim, my best score in a long time!

Gave ourselves a red hot chance but injuries to Laverde and Vlastuin kill us.

Man, I could have stolen it this year.

Going down to the wire @saladin, our boys are 13 points down with a quarter left.

I can’t believe we made it close considering we had to trade in multiple players just to field a prelim 18 and play the likes of Hamish Davis (who looks a decent prospect moving forward)

Congrats though. Another GF. Great effort.

Bad luck @saladin, another great effort and you have rebuilt your side amazingly considering what you took over. This year has been pretty even overall.

Really stoked to have made another GF, very unexpected having finished outside the top 4 and thinking we were making up the numbers, and was this close to blowing up the team and going full rebuild. We don’t have the superstars in the midfield but we have a good even group all over. I can’t remember the last time we were in a GF but it’ll be a tough one against @Split_Infinity . Bad luck to @Allblack too, always in the top few and fighting hard.

Two leagues and two GF’s, hoping to pinch one, both look like very tough games.

@Split_Infinity I think you’re just gonna get me. Congilio subbed out in the second probably what costs me. I have a 128 point lead with Sicily versus Amon, Ginnivan and Morris. Not giving up yet but Sicily needs a big one for me to have a chance.

Not me , Craze.

Well done @Crazy_Bomber on your magnificent efforts in the finals and a very close grand final!

And thanks to all in the FF Original league for a great season from the preseason trade period and draft until the finals series.

Special thanks to @Blummers32 who puts in a huge effort to organise it all and herd us cats to participate and make it fair and fun.

Also well done to Jack Ginnivan for saving my arse in the GF.

Well done to both contenders. Both worthy Premiers, but there can only be one… congrats Split!

Congrats to @Split_Infinity on the win. Well done to @Crazy_Bomber on making another grand final.

I’ll send you both a PM for details so I can send your prizes.

Congratulations @Split_Infinity for a fantastic year, a well deserved premiership and your activity in trade time and drafting has paid off very well. Fully deserved.

I certainly didn’t expect to make the GF but proud of the boys after missing finals last year. Goes to show how close both leagues were and this whole year was razor thin margins. Won the other league by 13 points and lose this one by 15 points. Could have won both, could have won neither. 1-1 seems about right.

Coniglio getting subbed on 35 in the second quarter was costly but I rode my luck to the GF so it is what it is. Thanks to @Blummers32 for a magnificently run comp, your efforts and dedication made the year a delight.
