Is there any way to export the available players list?
You can download the CSV from the AFL site then filter out picks that have already been taken
Good pick, I reckon.
It blows my mind that Bailey Humphrey is (was!) in this draft pool.
Thought little Campo might have slid through to 17
Those last 4 picks were all ones that I was hoping for at my next pick. I think you did really well with Davidson CB, I would have taken him with my next pick if he was available but I would have potentially taken Humphries as I only found out a day or so ago he was available.
Bo Allen was definitely in calcualtions and I suspected L Campo would get snapped up pretty quickly after his score on the weekend.
I probably would’ve taken Humphrey at 5
I own Humphrey in the other league. It will be interesting to see how he goes this year. I know there were some sub effected matches last year but he only averaged 45 and his pre season score of 65 hardly screams pick me. He is a long way off proving that he could be a consistent 90+ fantasy scorer anytime soon.
Is there a way to turn off the auto-pick? I can’t find it
I would have had Lalor, Ashcroft, Draper, O’Sullivan, Langford, Smith and Travaglia ahead of Humphrey.
I expected Kako to go early because of the Essendon tax that has historically occurred in previous drafts. Essendon players usually go for overs.
Josh Smillie would be considered as well.
But I agree. Humphrey could be a very slow burn. And Gold Coast aren’t exactly a great developing team yet. But he is very talented and highly rated.
I think that will be an option that can be switched off once the draft officially begins.
A quick reminder around trading rules during the draft.
Wtf?
Nah that’s not right. You can’t draft more than 10 players and have more than 30 on your list.
Effectively that would mean you can strategically draft players beyond your 30 to prevent coaches who draft after you from selecting the player.
Has to be even playing field. Everyone gets 10 picks and that’s it.
You have to end up trimming the list back to 30 by the first game.
So the player will end up back in the free agency pool as a waiver.
It’s also not in the coaches interest to just keep taking players to throw them back into free agency. So they’ll be wanting to trade the excess picks anyway during the draft.
Nah that’s a rubbish rule. It means the player can’t be drafted by a coach with a legitimate spot on their list.
An unfair advantage in that the coach can hang onto 35 or so players and wait to see who is named round one before dropping to the waiver.
Plus when dropped to the waiver the player becomes available after the draft to all coaches rather than just being available to coaches with list spots in the draft.
That new rule completely changes strategy for those that don’t value early draft picks and back themselves to find players late in the draft.
Had that rule been in place before the pre season and mid season trade period last year, it might have impacted a few trade discussions.
We can switch it so that you can hold the picks and trade them during the draft, but by the time you get to your 30th team member on the list, you can no longer take any more picks and players stay in the draft pool to be selected. You can only trade the pick away or lose it. It’ll be up to the coach with excess picks to make sure they trade away their picks before they lose them.
We can add an extra round to the draft to fill lists to 30 for teams that have a deficit of picks like we did previously. It can be done here on Blitz if the app can’t do it. But I’ll have to do that after the 10 rounds of drafting is completed and all trading during the draft has been finalised.
We’re going to go with the 30 player framework rule. I’ll update the rules and put some official post in this thread when I do it.
Basically, any coach with excess picks will lose them once they have 30 players on their list. It’s up to the coach to have traded away those picks before their last pick arrives.
Any coach with deficit picks will get replacement picks at the end of the draft.
It looks like AFL Fantasy will allow me to update the draft order as we go through the draft so we should be able to run that replacement picks on the app.
I’ll know more once the draft officially begins in 15 minutes.
We can continue the draft from round 2 on the app without needing to post in the draft thread. I should be able to assign players to a pick once draft officially opens.
Just remember, once the first pick of a round is taken, that round of picks is effectively locked in place and cannot be traded. We’re close to the end of round 1 and I’d say that round 2 will formally begin in the next few hours.
This rule is in place so that coaches use the time they have to actually take their pick rather than negotiate a trade. We need the draft to keep moving not be delayed.
I’m happy I got Bice from Sydney. I doubt he gets games straight away, but I’m banking that Sydney know how to draft and develop players and he should pay off in a few years the way Matt Roberts has and the way Sheldrick looks like paying off.
I’m happy to take address my most pressing needs in the forward line and the backline with my first two picks. Now I need to sort out my next few picks & trades.
Definitely on my radar for a bit later.
59 from 58 minutes is good numbers. Maybe a new coach sees earlier opportunities.
Okay…
From the early look at the draft board, autopick should be disabled to begin with.
So if you add players to your queue and are not able to take your pick, you can activate autopick and it’ll take it for you. Just click on settings once you enter the draft board and you should get options like this.
But, just remember to switch it off when you get back. If you have picks close to each other, it’ll autopick as long as you have players in the queue (assuming it is very similar to Ultimate Footy).
It looks like I can pause and recommence the draft which helps when we reduce to 5 hours after round 6.
At this point, pausing the draft is all I can do (and reduce draft pick time). I was hoping I could adjust picks or assign players to bring the draft up to speed, but I cannot find where I can do that. So it looks like it’ll be up to coaches to push through their trades on AFL Fantasy.
Unless I work out how to assign players to picks, we might have to run the second round here until everyone puts in all their draft pick selections on AFL Fantasy, then move over to there.
