Bice wouldnt have made it past 17
Actually a little shattered to lose Campo and Bice so close to my pick
I’m glad I took Bice then. Was wondering whether I wait until a later pick.
I like the Curtin pick though.
Official announcement.
I’ve updated the rules post to take into account the 30 player list rule.
Let me know if it isn’t clear enough how it works.
I’m still trying to work my way around the AFL Fantasy Draft Board (which is fun whilst trying to sort out trades for a round 2 pick).
At 24 years old they’ve picked him to play now. I think he’ll get plenty of game time
24? I thought he was younger than that.
Shows how much research I’ve put into my selections…
He should play by the middle of the year then if not opening round.
Still not sure how he fits with Roberts and Florent back there. Blakey runs off the backline too. It may not be DT friendly for him.
The good thing about Bice is that he was taking some kick ins so if that continues he has some sort of FF base to build from.
Okay…
Regarding the draft board on AFL Fantasy, I’m going to try something.
I think I can pause the draft, set it to a ‘commissioner draft’, allocate the players selected, then turn it back to coaches taking picks.
Fingers crossed it lets me do it successfully. Hopefully it allows me to adjust individual picks at the same time to deal with the excess picks lost once you reach 30 player list rule.
Edit…
Nup - it won’t allow me to do. It’s live draft or commissioner draft. No switching between the two functions. Must be chosen before the draft begins.
I’m not sure what ‘Enable pick conformation modal’ is used for. Help on the website doesn’t mention what it does.
Edit 2…
I’ve reached out to AFL Fantasy support to see what our options are. There’s no clarification whether a coach can take a 31st or 32nd player once they reach 30. It shouldn’t, but I can’t find anything about it.
Worst case, we might have to assign certain players who are unlikely to play at all (Brad Crouch is a good example) as ‘excess picks’ after a coach has reached 30 players on their list that are then delisted after the draft is completed.
But if the commissioner cannot assign a player to a particular pick, this will need to be done by the coach.
It seems the way it’s set up, during the live draft, the commissioner has very little to do other than pause the draft and increase / decrease the time between picks.
So if something goes wrong during the live draft, the commissioner can only clean it up after the draft.
But with trading during the draft, if an error occurs coaches can trade the adjustments amongst themselves. Again, the commissioner has no functionality of forcing through trades during the live draft. I can only perform trades relating to my own team.
As an aside…
Edit 3 I guess…
If you’re doing multiple picks for trades, they’ll need to be in separate trades. You can add multiple players to a trade. But you then cannot add what pick to take back.
So I’d suggest posting a confirmed trade in the thread on Blitz, then performing the trades on AFL Fantasy and each coach accepting the trades on AFL Fantasy.
The draft board adjustments looks great and are an improvement on previous drafts. But the functionality is a bit sloppy.
Is something already a bit awry ? Is the app saying that J Berry was the first selection?
Yeah. Looks like an error pick has occurred.
Not sure what happened there.
J Berry will have to take place of Sam Lalor. So if someone wants Berry, they draft Lalor and trade him to @Jefferson.
Somehow, I don’t think this will run as smoothly as I was hoping.
Also , In terms of the app, I’ve no idea how a pick trade would get done even if one was agreed. But then , I’m technologically inept anyway.
It used to be open, seems like pick trades are now closed.
I was trying to work that out now. The App doesn’t show your list of picks. At least, I can’t find where my picks are other than the draft board. But it does show up on a web browser.
It won’t even show up on your phone browser which is next to useless.
But on a computer, it lets you trade the pick first and then add the players to the trade. To get the trade coming back the other way, the other coach will need to send it to you.
Prior to draft, it allowed to trade a player for nothing, so hopefully that follows through into trading during the draft.
Sorry. I paused the draft to see if I could correct it somehow.
I also wasn’t sure if it was just auto picking randomly, but it looks like Jefferson took that pick accidentally.
I’ve resumed the draft again.
I think @You_Shall_Be_Smoten is on London time. It’s 12:30am there, so we might be up for a wait on the last pick of round 1.
Another draft nugget…
The time between picks on AFL Fantasy is set at 12 hours. The next lowest available is 60 minutes which isn’t suitable for us later on from round 6 onwards.
We’ll sort it out when we get to it. Most likely it’ll just stay at 12 hours flat and hopefully by then coaches are in a habit of keeping an eye on the draft a few times per day.
The platform was saying it was my pick at 19 and I ended up selecting Berry
No problems. If Smoten doesn’t take Berry and you’re happy taking him, then you can just take Lalor when that second round pick comes around on the app.
I’ll send players PMs to make their first round pick on AFL Fantasy. We might be able to run with the draft on AFL Fantasy whilst we wait for Smoten’s pick.
Fark.
This is going to be fun.
You cannot send player less trades on AFL Fantasy. It just won’t let you do it. It looks like it’ll need to go with or for a player.
So my trade with @JBaller92 won’t go through.
@wimmera1 or @The_Mad_Bomber will have to confirm how their trade goes.
Looks like for the jballer pick, I’ll have to take a player on his behalf then he’ll need to take a pick on my behalf before offering me a pick and the player for a player.
We might just have to run this on Blitz like last year and sort things out on AFL Fantasy as we go.
