Def looks more agile there. Geez that left was a thing of beauty… will never forget that goal from the centre square.
I recall being incredibly underwhelmed by those highlights. Lots of handball receives running around the back and blasted kicks for territory.
He did seem to lose a lot of his agility and lateral movement as his career developed- either through injuries or physical development.
What? We followed Cyril for years. He was a genuine top level talent. We all knew it.
Not sure if your serious, but obviously there were quite a few AFL recruiters that didn’t think he was a top ten pick.
And at the same time there was a video, just one, or Rioli, and it was patently clear that he could stop time with one shake of his hips.
Myers was obviously highly rated, but it was absolutely obvious that Cyril was going to be a superstar. He had been the anointed one for years, and he clearly had “it”.

Obviously.
The same group that though Cake Norton, Jarrad Grand and Rhys Palmer were top 10 picks
It was blindingly obvious that Cyril was going to be a gun.
You’re awesome at picking talent. Give Essendon a call.

And yet the following players were among those selected before Cyril. You obviously have a better eye for a sure thing than a number of AFL recruiters.
Chris Masten
Cale Morton
Jarrad Grant
David Myers
Rhys Palmer
Lachlan Henderson
Patrick Veszpremi
Just so we know, who from this years draft class is the anointed superstar?

Absolutely not awesome at picking talent, but I was on board. As were a heap here. We had followed him for as long as we will have been following Bewick by the time he gets to draft age. He was considered the most talented in his family, and he had Norn Smith medals in both sides of his bloodlines. Essendon had wanted him for years. And then he got to the draft and the new regime baulked.
You were here in 07 weren’t you? Cyril was “special” we all knew it.
Thanks Bruce.
Yes, that was my point
I wish my memory extended back that far!
It’s a damn shame we didn’t draft Cyril. I guess that’s the sum of it.
For sure.
I can remember many many arguments. There was a lot of Cyril love. There was also Palmer love and the likes, but there was a lot of discussion that we should take Cyril because he was going to be a gun and he wouldn’t be there at our next pick.
So your in the pick the best available over needs camp?
Archie!!!
And we’re back on track
Bless you.
Cyril at Essendon would have ended up like Walla. He was fortunate to play in a great side.
