#21 Dyson "Go jam it” Heppell - 200th game this week (Part 1)

An elite intercept defender, playing a role to allow Redman and Hind to play a more natural rebounding and running game.
Heppell is playing a role also covering his teammates when they are out of position. He is working a lot hard than some people may believe. I was critical at start of year for a lack of accountable but that has changed since road 4 onwards. He has never been blessed with pace, so not too worried if he is out sprinted back to goal, most of time he doesn’t need to worry about the speed because he has setup and can read the play and intercept.

I’ll put my hand up and say I thought he was cooked early in the year, but he has built throughout the year very nicely.

Been very good. Happy I’m wrong with this one.

I’ve been one of those who though hepps was on his last legs but his form right now is good. Glad to be proved wrong

That moment when Dyson came up to that young boy and gave him a big hug prior to the coin toss was a really beautiful moment. I was honestly quite emotional seeing that. It was so obvious how much it meant to that young guy who is clearly dealing with quite a lot at such a young age.

Hepp is a quality bloke and that made me pretty proud that we’ve got him representing us.

I need a compass!?
Appears Gawn wins the toss and points to the City end.
But we kicked to the city end.
What am I missing.

The move to defence has worked well because help still reads the play well. He has time to get to where the ball is going to be and plants himself there either for a mark, or to shoot off a quick handball.

He’s not really accountable for a man, so the lack of pace is not a great concern.

Reckon he can go for a while longer yet in this role. Happy I’m wrong with help because hes playing very well.

It was a beautiful moment- & the fact that H remembered exactly how many times he’d seen Dys reinforces how special it is to him.
Dyson is a fine human being.

If he stays uninjured and continues this form, he’d be good for another 2-3 more years off the back flank!

Fair shake of the sauce bottle, I think he’s been outstanding in the last month after I was critical early.

hes kicking the best he has since the foot break.

He seems to work well in congestion and I noticed a couple of times he seemed to find space and time while he was in close. I wanted to say that a few times it reminded me of Pendlebury in close but that will probably trigger a few people in here so will keep that one to myself . And he is having a great year as well. It’s good to have him back.

Yep. Has changed the technique a bit it seems. Punching it a bit harder and lower.

He was always great by hand and great in traffic. He also reads the flight of the ball well in the air.
