Great player when on song but makes Brent Stanton look like Frank the Tank when it comes to confidence. No real physical presence either. Langers is a good speaker but the biggest criticism of him was also his lack of physicality and the really great captains, outside of say Pendlebury, have that. I also wonder how the group views Merrett. I never liked his public stance about the club showing him they are worthy of his signature, to me thats not someone who will bleed for this club. Shows how bereft we are of worthy successors. To me Laverde embodies that desire and passion that we’d hope others could follow. Snelling is a leftfield choice someone else mentioned. I like it. He’s smart, speaks well and gets everything out of himself and is unafraid to do the hard work for his teammates. Personally I don’t rate McGrath.

After all the embarrassing hoopla, Shiel ducks under the banner first. Maybe Hepp had something planned and Shiel ruined it. Thats why he got his upcuppance and no help with the Parker incident. Serves him right for spoiling the party atmosphere.
As for the interview and blitzers saying Hepp was thrown under the bus and Truck or someone higher doing it, it was probably planned weeks ago re the 200 game milestone. Just a shame that the milestone game began and ended in such a mess.
Nope. Fox Footy rang the club yesterday to ask if somebody would front up, expecting a no, the club confirmed within half an hour that Heppell would be there.
crazy to think that Heppell had not spoken to Shiel at all about the incident before coming on tv.

Club media manager and the coach would have shown him that footage before he went on air.

It does lend weight to the idea that there’s a fracturing of the relationship between Shiel and playing group. Heppell and Shiel are extremely close as near as can be gleaned from social media. They spend a lot of time together away from the club. It’s possible that the two have spoken about it since (as opposed to being addresses as a club) but if not then you’d have to think there’s some issues being exposed.
He didn’t lie.
The media manager would’ve reminded him he’ll be asked about it, but that doesn’t mean he would’ve seen the particular footage. They live in a bubble, Dyson especially, away from the unhinged outside noise. It’s a means to living a balanced fulfilling life that isn’t solely defined by the W-L column of a football club.

You think he’s watching any of that ■■■■ ever? I highly doubt it. And not seeing that specific footage doesn’t mean he’s not aware of the incident.
