was a nice speech from Heppell, feel almost like giving him a farewell match after watching that.

Personally, didn’t think much of him as a player, BUT I must admit that the one training I went to, he was probably our best trainer along with Kelly. He really did get the most out of himself which was a credit to him. Unfortunately, he got selected by the wrong club, otherwise he may have had a far better career.
It’s really not going to disadvantage the club by giving him a farewell game. We’re really dependent on other teams in the eight losing and he could be the sub. They did it for Hurley and this guy probably deserves it too. Maybe he even goes out on a high? Who knows with this mob.
Yeah, I was trying to remember an absolute wow game I had in the back of my mind and I think that was it.
There were games in those early seasons once he became a regular alongside Jobe in the midfield that were sensational, like he could freeze time around him.
I know it’s the ,right time for him to go but I really wanted Heppell to get a final’s win. Not to be.
Is it immediate or is he up for a farewell game?
Honestly might as well give him one now.

“Essendon coach Brad Scott will not guarantee retiring champion Dyson Heppell a farewell game and says the Bombers will pick “our best team” to finish the season.”
End of season.
Perhaps I’m just a little emotional after watching his speech but I’d be inclined to give him one.
If not, I hope they do something to honour him on Friday.
“The weight that you carry on your shoulders for this club for your whole career will never be forgotten”. Enough said.
Like Fletch and Hurls this guy deserves a farewell game. I’d rather pay tribute to this ripping person who endured so much than see Cox or Menzie out there.
That was a tougher watch than I was expecting.
I liked the line about Reid and Shady injury reports prior to draft day.
There’s a few lines there that are exactly his character and I’m sure people will over analyse it and scrutinise him for them.
He is a different leader and a very unique leader.
I loved Scott’s speech. I particularly liked Scott saying Hep’s given more to the footy club than he’s taken. It’s clear that there is more to Hep’s story of how he was able to bring playing groups together after four years club upheaval. I hope one day Hep gets to tell his story of that period as I think it’ll show how important his leadership style during that period of time.
Best of luck to the guy. I think out of everyone who has played at our club the last 15 years, Hep would be one of the very few that would still turn up like a lot of members to cheer on the club. It’s just a pity this guy wasn’t here during a different era because it would be an absolute thrill to have a diehard Bombers supporter grow up, get drafted at the club and captain a premiership at the club they love.
I wish him the best in wherever he ends up. I think he’ll take time away and enjoy family life. I doubt he’d move into coaching, but wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a development coach to guide players through the early parts of their career.
Mathematically, it can still happen.
Personally, I think honouring him would the best thing.
The last thing we want is him potentially playing in a terrible loss replicating Tippa’s last game last year and making it a very awkward atmosphere at the end of the game.
Just wheel him out act the start of the game, honour him get into the game.
Weird, someone’s copy pasting loser comments from Facebook in here rather than writing their own ‘Thanks Dys’ message
Win the next 2 by >8 goals each, sneak into the 8 and play him as sub in a winning GF. That’s the optimism we’ve learnt from Hepp.
Clearly one of footys nicest and kindest characters. It’s a shame he couldn’t replicate his form of pre saga through this entire career.
No doubt he carried a large burden from the saga, that’s on the club. He never should have been made captain imo but I guess he was his authentic self through that journey and thats all he could be.
His teammates ■■■■■■ him over from winning a final this year. I hope it ■■■■■■■ stings the likes of Redman, Langford, Stringer, McGrath and co.
All the best in your next chapter
■■■■■■■ no way. I sincerely hope you are wrong
Much respect.
Well done Dys.

Last two season “the most enjoyable of his career” weird comment from him.
