Yeah soz, I didn’t read that far.
If gresham and mckay are worth 750-800 durham is worth 3 mil ![]()
What did draper go for? He didnt trigger band 1 did he? Although in general, talanted ruckman/big guys generally command bigger money as they are harder to find than midfielders
Realistically, durham isnt a top 50 player in the comp right now. I think he will be which i agree with the sentiment of he could end up near that mark, money wise all things considered with cap increases but i still dont think he’s a million dollar player, but i probably come back to buckley and tassie. Buckley has posters of duz in his room and i have no doubt he’d throw him a mil plus a year, so signing him now on say close to that mark, is good business i guess. You would imagine its a heavily front loaded contract so it frees up money in a year or two to chase big FA fishes
I’d imagine he’s probably on 600 odd right now. If i was to guess, i reckon his contract would average out to be about 900 a year, but thats just a total guess
I love durham. His attitude, explosiveness amd toughness is top notch. He’s probably gotten a nice juicy contract and its well deserved. Is it worth more than he’s currently worth? Most likely, but id imagine a lot of players around the calibre of durham will be getting over inflated contracts purely from the fear tassie will be coming with the cheque book
JFC. Is there honestly about 60 players on a mil a year?
Yep. 110 players were on more than $800k last year. And the salary cap has gone up another 3% this year.
The landscape has changed
Just remember that Agents/player managers will ask Cal etc to report things in a certain way to make the deal look as lucrative and shiny as possible. This helps the brand of their agency when recuirting players to their stables.
So being the biggest deal in Essendon history might be from a certain criteria or point of view e.g it might include his current deal restructuring which makes it a 7 year deal which is then technically the biggest deal in club history etc.
Just saying take some of that into account when these announcements come via the reporters
I recall the AFL putting out anonymous data a few years ago, do they still do this
Can they come for Ridley too
Does a dog pish on a hydrant ?
Why does your vintage put a space between last word and punctuation?
I do that as well. if my vintage is similar it could just be finger pain
I actually think they may have front loaded his contract since we barely have any big names on our list at the moment, the club has to meet a minimum salary cap. This will give us flexibility in the next few years to attract the likes of Butters and Zac Bailey.
Nothing to do with my vintage. I was taught the same style as you were. I worked for four years straight in France where it is usual to put the space in. I kept it, because to my eye it looks better.
Yeah, thats exactly what i said ![]()
That’s around 3 players per team. Is Durham a top 3 at a club kind of money? Not right now IMO.
Now, as the cap increases and that money becomes a top 6 player in a team and/or Durham improves, then he may be worth that.
And of course, this figure was just Aceman’s speculation.
I have always wondered this.
This is effectively how I’m rationalising it. I think in 2-3 years time it’s going to look like a pretty normal deal, relative to the league, for a player like Durham.
Why is he being played as anything other than an inside mid?
Coz he’s probably our only mid that can play elsewhere.
parish, Caldwell are useless anywhere else.
Merrett can play wing if need be and hopefully moves to half back eventually
Surely he does t go for that tackle
It all hinges on the n
