#23 Harrison Jones

last weeks Hawks back 6
Day Frost Stratton
Hardwick Hartley Scully

Technically they’re ā€˜all australian’ just not in the best 22 players in the competition sense

I’d rather have a look at Gown this year…Jones can wait…

It’s such a weird one. Bryan, or Crauford, or even Gown would surely be a better place for Blitz to invest their short term affections. It’s like everyone forgot he had a foot stress fracture and wasn’t even in training a month ago.

A foot stress fracture.

Returned to full training less than a month ago.

We all complain about player management, and yet this thread has been all ā€œgive Jones a tasteā€ for 3 weeks. Even though he’d barely trained for 6 months. It’s unbelievable.

I’d play them all.

Absolutely no point to give any more games to Smack, TBC and Phillips.

I want to have a look at Gown or Crauford, esepecially if they are in line for axing come year end, gives them a chance to show something.

Jones is safe, but getting a taste of AFL at some point this year would be beneficial.

Yeah I went to that night final and remember thinking we really missed fletchers second efforts and 1%ers. That’s why I don’t think fletcher wasn’t ready as a 17 year old. He was already important to our side.

Getting a taste could be beneficial, but really I’d be trying to build his fitness and strength and perhaps give him a look in the last round if we’re out of contention.

We just have to go and pump Hawthorn this week. That is non negotiable.

Sounds like a bit of run on panic $$$s for Jones.

You overlooked Hartley

agree, I’d rather it later in the season.

Our last game is less than a month away.

Unless we win them all.

He wasn’t ready for playing one-out on the greatest crop of full forwards the game has ever seen. That’s probably fair.

But he was clearly ready for AFL level, and some of the rebounding and intercept work of that Fletch / Wanga / Thompson / Harvey combo, was years ahead of its time.

ok sooooo bear with the convoluted explanation…

a mate of mine bought a video for his brother in law - one of those ones where you get a celebrity to say happy birthday to them personally (obviously for a fee) - and this celebrity in this instance was an Essendon legend (who shall remain nameless) but is still around the club doing bits and pieces of promo work here and there.
in this short 1 minute-ish video the former player talks about the club hopefully pushing for finals, mentions how good it was for Mozzie to debut last week, and goes on to say (and i quote) "…and I think we’ll see Harry Jones even this week"

So there ya go. You heard it here first from a guy on the internet who’s mate sent him a video where someone who might know gave a vague indication that Jones will debut this week.

ā€œHis leading patterns were good, he marked the ball at its highest point and he presented when he needed to. His forward-half pressure has been a standout for him, and it was very good again.ā€

BRING HIM IN!!!
