Reading many of these posts makes me think some people just don’t want this bloke to succeed.
Forced to play a new role against the Eagles and did it pretty damn well.
The worse thing about opinions is anyone can have one. And I mean anyone!

Caddy was brought in as a forward. Successful move.
Jones played on a wing. Thats a bold move by the coach, since its unlikely that Jones has ever trained with the midfield group
It will be interesting to see if Scott persists with this next week
I was surprised that he had no tackles. He looked to be working hard defensively.
Did a lot of running in that link/wingman role. It plays to his strengths.
If he isn’t tackling and reckon if he’s playing a high hff or wing role he needs more than 14 or 15 touches a game
I might be wrong but I don’t want wingmen tackling. It’s up and back outside running. If he’s tackling he’s in the wrong position
I thought he was handy. Some big clunks and a couple of nice goal assists. Pass to Wright early was pin-point, only a tiny space to hit him before going OOB. Then a handball release for Guelf up the other end (I think?).
Not sure how it’d go in the wet, but I don’t mind the extra marking power around the ground. Cox also adds this and is becoming less of a liability once it hits the deck. Duursma adds to the aerial options as he marks tall for his size (as does Durham).
Thought he was decent. He looks a lot better up the ground then he does up forward
The 0 tackles surprises me, could of sworn he laid a few
Duursma playing the other wing also only had 1 tackle. Though they play a different style of game.
I suspect it might have been the type of game we played as Duursma also took 9 marks, so they were both playing a more intercepting/outlet role on the wings maybe?
Have just watched the replay and my original assessment of him was too harsh. He was fine
Id actually move jones a bit up the ground, drop cox and keep caddy.
He was a decent target for the outlet kick in the mid/defence. He gives a second effort too.
He could be interesting behind the ball but he’ll need to speed his disposal after he takes a mark.
It’s interesting to compare his game to Cox yesterday as they were paying a very similar role. Jones had a smidge more of the ball from more time on ground but, Cox had 6 tackles to zero and 1 more contested mark.
Check the tackle stats first
They can’t be outside the whole time. Their job is to get back and support the defence and be part of the wall across the middle. When the ball enters their zone and hits the deck they need to compete on the deck, lay tackles etc
I think you are being a little harsh. His first game playing a role he hasn’t before and hasn’t trained for it, you are being picky about tackles.
Wingers should average around 2 per game once they are up to speed.
If he’s going to be a low possession wingman, then pressure acts and tackles will need to be more prominent in his game.
It’s a fair observation since his tackling was a feature in his early games this year.
Still, a much improved performance on recent games.
He played decent.
We won.
Optimism is good for your mental well being.
Smell the farking roses for once.
kudos for the reassessment and for organising your life to already fit in the replay
A toddler waking up at 5am will do that!
I’m shocked nobody has brought up Harry’s haircut, lack of boot-shine and general refusal to stand at Flinders intersection 4 hrs/day to help little old ladies and stray dogs cross safely.
I actually think he’s competing with Cox as well.
