#23 Harrison Jones

I agree big blokes that can play are hard to find.
Big blokes who can’t get a kick in the forward line so gets moved to a wing are dime a dozen, you could use any state league player in Australia to do what Jones does.

Pfft. You can’t just say he’s a big bloke let’s give him 7 years. Thats what got us here in the first place.
If it was up to me he would have been cut 3 years ago.

The whole “big blokes take longer to develop” is such crap. Assess them as you would any other player

You can’t trust a blokes opinion who wants to cut a 14 game player who averages the most clearances a game for the team but wants to keep the guy who has been on the list for five years despite not having one elite trait

You can’t call sheep ■■■■■■■ like Tsatsas does an elite trait. Go and watch his clearances. He isn’t Caldwell , Hobbs or Durham who will put their head over the ball.

I bet you said Kavanagh would be a gun too.

He got absolutely smashed in the Adelaide game by downhill skiing. Has very few seconds efforts. There is legitimate reasons he has been dropped and can’t hold his spot.

Out of our current midfield who is he better than? Who does he kick out on merit alone and not play him he needs games bullshit.
He has no other string to his bow.

Snelling looked a million bucks in the VFL.

You are the one who wants to keep Jones, who has played more games and been on the list longer and done even less.

If your a poor judge of talent that’s on you cobber and if you want to debate Tsatas take it to his thread.
The point in this thread is Jones is a below average player in every aspect and instead of debating that fact you try and go after Tsatas instead

key bit innit

Whatever about his career…the fact he is on the floor stretchn with the blokes all smiles and cheering on Caddy is the only fortune we’ve had all year. Go son.

There is a world where he comes good.

Kinda like Jarrad Waite, who was very average for almost all of his Carlton career and then had a purple patch late at North.

How is it jones misses a month with a sideways ankle and Ridley misses 2 months with what looked like a minor hammy strain?

They are both average players, which thread should I be in?

Don’t know for you most of your posts are below average so it probably doesn’t matter

Well I have a below average audience to work with.

There is a time and place. When he’s just had a terrible injury and probably isn’t a candidate for selection for 4-6 weeks, moaning in his thread isn’t that time or place.

If you have to talk about it take it to a thread like Scott’s one.

difference is waite had skill and marking ability. Jones has “running patterns” and “defensive running” as his supposed best traits.

if he’s on the list next season, then rosa is dud mk 2, signing players for what they “could” be instead of what they are, which is simply a tall who can’t play as a forward or a winger, but he’s supposedly versatile cos he can fail in 2 positions, go figure.

Nah I’ll leave it here where it belongs

We shouldn’t be doing the contract until the end of the year.
If we pick up a forward or wing in the mid season draft that actually preforms in this role and lifts the team preformance or cox takes the spot or a combo of both then you’d have to ask the question is there room on the list for jones

When Scott moved Jones to the wing I thought he showed some signs, but not enough. I wanted to see him with a preseason preparing to play there. However, he got that, and didn’t iron out his weaknesses or use the strengths enough. He’s not a wing, and its become a joke now.

I do think we’ve stuffed him around with the wing role, and he still has some potential up forward (or even in defence). Would I keep him to try him back forward or in defence? Maybe. But if I was doing so, would I give him a 2 year contract? Hell no.

Why give a two year contract? Other teams won’t be coming hard for him; and if they did pay up and goodbye. Given him 1 year at most, and then you can reassess next year. Two years is madness, even if I’ve got a soft spot for him. As you said, its terrible list management.

That’s really a perfect assessment of the situation.
He really has become a depth player and iam not sure he is the type of player that deserves two years

Must be Dodoro temporality retaking the reins to offer him 2 years.
