Use this as an opportunity to put another 4-5 kgs of muscle on the frame. I like his game, the Draper-Bryan combination works (pending Sammy staying). Chin up Bryza, we are all behind you!

Iād be tempted to stick with Jones as second ruck and replace Bryan with a small (over picking Wright).

ā ā ā ā news unfortunately. I donāt see enough of the VFL to know if Vigo is ready to step up but Iād imagine for now we just go with Sammy and Jones/Wright

The way Sam played around the ground was great, but Gawn smashed him in the hitouts. Jones seemed to struggle also. Iām betting Goldy comes in, Brad has probably already made that decision - but yeah I wish we could just run with Sam solo.

Vigo is a way off unfortunately. Has shown more as a forward than he has a ruck, in which case heāll be behind Wright and Jones as you alluded to.

Itās terrible luck, but heās only 23 and should be ready to go Rd.1 next year.
Can use the time to strengthen the upper body a little during his rehab.

Yeah he is developing slowly as expected I guess, Gerryn will be the same. They both have tools to be players one day, but it will be Sam + one of 2MP or Goldy Iām guessing. Jones struggles in the hitout contests, but he has proven he can cover the ground ok, could be worth trying him more next week. Canāt see him keeping his feet against the monster rucks though.
If only 2MP could have continued on his great 2022.
Need to bring in mid season trading grabbing a ready made ruck from a team would be handy right now.

Vigo and Kayle are prob 2 years away from senior footy though arenāt they? They both are potentially exciting prospects long term, but in reality itās just Goldy this year (surely his last) and 2MP, who isnāt natural ruck.

Itās not an easy call. Draperās form up forward has been very useful this year, with Bryan playing as the primary ruck and Drapes giving him chopouts while still scoring goals. Wright is another one who wants to play more forward than ruck, he and Draper arenāt the ideal combo. Goldstein is more of a ruck, but if last year is any guide he can hardly run out a game any more, let alone shoulder the primary ruck duties for the final 80% of the season.

Yeah exactly, this is why it hurts us - Draper with 6 goals from 3 games was building. He can ruck a game out, but with Langford out (plus Stringer gone), Caddy needs the help up forward, and Kako needs players to feed off also. Edwards injury although inexperienced and skinny, that wonāt help the cause either.
Hopefully Langers comes back in 2 weeks.
If 2MP can come in and actually clunk up forward again, then it might work ok this year - but Bryan will leave a hole in the structure of the team that has played so far this year.
