#24 Nick Bryan - ACL recovery thru 2025

Really annoying, and such an innocuous incident…

Really annoying injury for the big fella. Good things come to those that are patient. It’ll turn for him, I have no doubt. The great thing is that he’ll come back bigger and stronger, plus he’ll have an abundance of time to improve his kraft even further. Good luck to the boy.

Thats shattering. Hes been really good for us and vital to the style of game weve been implementing. On top of that he just seems like a great kid. Hope his recovery goes well.

Very unlucky.

Best wishes to the big fella.

Too soon, man, too soon!

this is gross news.

go well big bryza

I’d be keeping Goldy in the VFL till later in the year, he only has about 6-8 good games in him.

Time to try the youngster for a few games before wright is ready. Give Vigo a couple of games, maybe Gerryn too.

How far away is Coxy?

I’d like to see him get a crack as the backup ruck/forward.

I worry for Cox in the ruck

Young player at Essendon. It was a rite of passage.

How many weeks is Gawn going to get for the push that lead to Nicks ACL? I think 10 is fitting.

He did it for short periods in his first year.

Yeah he’d struggle against some of the real big boys but against the backups he could be a point of difference. Plus hed give the side some real versatility.

We need to worry about Cox in full-contact training first, then we can worry about him in the VFL, then worry about him in the seniors, and only after all that can we worry about him in the ruck.

Lotsa water to go under the bridge before it’s even a consideration, is what I’m saying.

when people mention the fact the club is ■■■■ at developing players, this is the kind of example people mean.

This kid should have played more than 23 games by now.

In 23 They continue to ruck phillips and draper and then phillips when draper is injured
in 24 they do the same but with goldstein
in 25 he starts the season in every game then in round 5 is out for a year.

he will be 24 at the start of next season if all things go well and he returns rd one.
To reach the supposed magical number some on here need to justify “you’re ready” in 100 games, will be 3 to 4 years away, when he is 27/28 and that’s IF he is good enough to begin with.

This is why simply waiting for the perfect conditions and perfect time to risk throwing kids into the deep end, doesn’t always work.

The worst part is, you literally have Draper as the example as he’s followed a similar path now, so you can’t even claim to be blindsided to this as a possibility.

Good rucks come into being at 26/28 and can play till they’re 34.

Bryan has ample time to carve out a 200 game career

We have one young tall not seriously injured during their developing years. Pumping games into him before he’s physically matured, giving away 20kg in the ruck doesn’t feel like the smartest idea in the room.
Bryan is actually one of our few development success stories. Similarly, Jye Caldwell is a medical success story given he has come back from potentially career-ending hamstring problems.
Both being out injured now is terrible, but that’s just footy.

DKP sometimes your bitter rants are entertaining.
Sometimes they’re just tiring.

That’s the point I was making. As with so many considered opinions, it was rubbished by many.
