He is going to be a much better player.
Some really positive signs from this guy tonight. He’s getting stronger in the ruck and his ball handling is very clean for a player of his height. Leave him in the 1s for the rest of the season, I reckon we’ve got a good one here.

Thought this guy was great on the weekend, including contested marking around the ground (been of a missing element in his game). 45 hit outs and a goal as well.

Yeah he played very well indeed. Dominated the hitouts (45), and took some string grabs around the ground.

Yeah and FWIW I thought the Carlton ruckman actually played okay (Mirkov - I think the very professional commentators said he was 210cms and 100+kegs) though obviously had colours lowered.
I wonder if we will see a Phillips/Bryan combo, as well as a Drapes/Bryan one? I definitely don’t think Bryan is 5 years off, as some have gone with. I reckon one preseason personally; but he’s useful (at least!) already - depending on the match-ups I guess.

Really happy that he’s back in for tonight. I think the guy is a real talent and he and Draper could complement each other very nicely. Hope he plays 1s for the rest of the season.

unfortunately for bryan, he’s done exactly zero at senior level. the second that changes, is when he’ll be the preferred second

His contested marking has really improved in the last few weeks. Taken some really great grabs around the ground, so look out for that tonight… Is there a roof at Optus(?)?
Thought he showed a bit against Hawthorn. Unrealistic to expect instant stardom from a young ruckman…
Interestingly it was Draper’s fifth game when he sat Nic Nat on his behind.
Tonight is Bryan’s fifth game.
Is it unrealistic to expect a similar highlight?

He does a couple of really good things every game but realistically his body’s a year away from letting him compete every game.

Was thinking more about a crunching defensive mark that cleans up a Weagle or two.
Or even a nimble footed baulk round a couple of opposition mids, before spearing a 45 metre pass to 2LP’s chest.
The use of the word “similar” was deliberate- I’m fully aware of that, and hence disappointed Sammy can’t go one better this year.
