You’d hope the club would do something, maybe lap of honour, at our first home game next year.
It’s absolutely the right decision. Doesn’t make it hurt any less
I’m going to wait and see if Gary Lyon is being played before writing Hooker’s obituary
He has been a great servant of the club. Absolutely love his celebration when kicking a goal. Looks like he passed that onto Jones.
All the best.
Yeah something like this would be great for all of Hooker, Ambrose, Zaka & maybe even Hurls if he’s done
If true, pretty sh*t that news of retirement of one of our favourite sons recently has been leaked before he can announce himself.
Agree with this, it’s annoying how these media outlets are breaking it before clubs and players do.
Nice touch cap.
And maybe a retrospective one for TBC.
Not that he has retired yet but just getting in early.
This was my favourite moment from Cale’s career. I still don’t apologise to the supporters around me that wore my full beer when he kicked that goal. It was one of his first goals as a forward. I remember yelling “ what the hell is hooker doing in the forward line?” before he kicked the match winner.
An absolute champion of the club. Hope he stays on as an assistant coach for at least a season if he retires.
I don’t know what to say.
Thank you, Cale. For your play but even more for your loyalty.
Till injuries and the saga crueled them, Hooker and Hurley were synonymous. Hope they aren’t both planning on exiting together.
I love how he drops on the second guy to continue going at him as the camera pans away…
I will miss hooker hoisting the ball up between his huge mitts after taking a mark. Peak arrogance.
I would not want to be in the middle of a Hooker/Hurley Sandwich.
He is the anti-Joe.
We tried to trade him to Gold Coast, and then put him through the whole supplements thing which cost him a year of his career and damaged his reputation, and he still turned down a big offer to return home to WA in 2016, choosing to stay with us instead.
His rise to stardom in 2013 was a joy to watch, and he was one of the bright lights during such a dark period for the club.
It’s the right call to retire (if indeed the reports are true), but it doesn’t make it any easier to accept. He was in such good form at the start of the year, but the cliff arrived so quickly. I just wish we gave him (and Hurley) the success they deserved, rather than sustained mediocrity.
Love ya Hooksy. A true Essendon champion
probably didn’t like the elbow to the chin
I’ll always love you Hooksy. You chest thumping son of a biitch.
