So for Redman to get off with a fine yet still have the potential to cause injury applied, we’d need to go for broke and argue for the impact to be downgraded to “insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence” (like when Merrett got tackled,) and that the free kick was sufficient penalty. If the tribunal accepts that, but then adds the potential to cause injury, we’re up to low impact and Redman only gets a fine.

We just have to argue that the impact was low. But who knows how they determine impact. Pretty sure they just spin a wheel.

Throughout the whole tackle Redman’s body was lower than Bontompelli’s. In fact almost horizontal to the ground as he tackled him. Near on impossible to flip someone of Bontompell’s size and strength from that position without him contributing to it himself.

I’m less confident they will appeal now, hope I am wrong. It’s a football action and there wasn’t any malice involved.
