#27 - Mason Redman - till end 2028

Pretty lucky we have heaps of injuries down back.

much better second half

Just a typical Redman game sadly.
A couple of times per game he busts his gut, shows real courage and spirit and makes some great plays. The rest of the game he is caca

He played well tonight but he’s no leader for mine. I felt his performance rose as the team started to play better and then in then end he was playing very well. But he’s no firestarter.

Was he on Hipwood for most of the night. Big Eric was hardly sighted

He looks like he’s going on 27 to 32 last 18 months, should be able to get back to his best. Massively lacking his old explosiveness

Feel as if he plays better when matched up on talls

I thought Lav was on a him a bit as well

Most of the time he runs around half-arsed like he’s managing a groin or leg injury, then occasionally he’ll really put in a sprint.
Really hard to get a gauge on what’s going on with him.

Didn’t think he was anywhere as bad as people made out tonight, or this season in general.

Yeah he made a few mistakes.

But 26 touches at 85% with 600m gained while playing in a undermanned defensive line is a fair effort. Thought some of his kicks were really damaging.

Think he looks better when he’s forced to play taller,.

Maybe a silver lining out of all the injuries. Brad might realise that picking so many talls is not our best line up.

He did plenty of good stuff last night, and I thought his second half was excellent.

The issue with Redman, and I certainly don’t expect him to be perfect, is that the mistakes he makes are often really, really, really bad. Players make mistakes, no issue with that, but he makes mistakes that a guy of his ability and experience shouldn’t make.

Agree when he plays on taller less mobile opponents he thrives. He’s not a great lateral mover nor very agile for his size. Smart moving medium\small forwards out-manoeuvre him. He goes well building up a head of steam on train-tracks of course.

Exactly

Agree.

He’s also kicking into the corridor at times which takes precision. Game of inches. He’s being encouraged to take some risk. That exposes him to blitz-scrutiny.

That is a fair point

So whats the deal with his injury?

Mitch Cleary said back in next week I think, someone did anyway - on the CH7 post-game.

Knock to the calf?
