Training with Dean Solomon by the looks of it.
Kinda, … " I see you’ve donned thy sash" means “Your sash”, and being the team he’s come to, that would be “Our” one … right?
pls
Verily.
What position does he play?
Nice.
Little old lady might have had a bit of old timers. God bless her.
Legit discussion, sparked by training reports.
Apparently 2MP can run really well, is both a good field kick and shot for goal, is reasonable below his knees, and is obviously big.
Didn’t expect the running or field kicking positives.
So what is it that is lacking?
And is it fixable?
I posted in the training thread - I’m worried about his overhead & contested marking. I was rightly chastised for being harsh about a bloke dropping a few marks at training before Xmas, but I am a bit worried about it.
im not expecting a great deal
He’s like Shaun McKernan. Has all the attributes. Can play football well. Just doesn’t do it very often.
I see him as a two year filler while we’re down the bottom of the ladder and young talls progress. Would be happy with 25 goals from him in 2021.
Round 21, 2021: full crowds are back, everyone completely vaccinated, hundreds of us line the boundary and there’s nothing police or hi vis dorks who did a weekend training course in crowd control can do to hold us back. Wright lines up from 35 metres out on a 45 degree angle, the drop is decent, it’s coming back, goal umpire arches his back and signals the all clear, teammates mob Peter Wright, the mob invades the MCG, some kids steal a goal umpires flags. The big ranga head and shoulders above the masses. Two Metre Peter goes into the history books as the league’s latest hero to kick 100 goals in season. Essendon goes on to win flag 17.

The contrasting posts of @westozziebomber and @Socks_and_Sandals …

The guy looks like a beast, i could see him as a UFC heavyweight or something, the perfect build for an athlete.
If he kicks a 50m to sink the Hawks at a packed G then I’m happy to give him 4+ years
Thing with overhead marking is you can’t overwork yourself and cause injuries like goal kicking.
No reason why the guy can’t do 50-100 overhead marks every day of the preseason. That’s a few thousand marking opportunities to learn and practice from.
If it’s an identified weakness, there’s absolutely no reason he can’t significantly address it before round 1.
Put yourself in his shoes for a moment. High draft pick.
Playing regular senior games in a crap team.
Was contributing and kicking goals consistently.
Then, Suns find someone bigger, better and shinier.
So as your gaining confidence and maturing, your no longer selected or needed.
As a young player how does that not affect your confidence on your ability?
He needs a chance and we are gonna give him one.
That’s all we can ask this stage and hopefully he grabs it, literally!
The complaint from suns supporters as i jumped over to their big footy board when we got him is that he is good but slow and a poor turning circle. No complaints about his marking and people generally wanted to retain him thinking he’d come good again.
He is very much a stop gap.
But a stop gap who could turn out reasonable and stick around for a decent period of time to keep pressure on, and provide decent coverage for, our young - and hopefully better - forwards in Jones and Eyre.
Really?
