As if anyone would use Whateleys comments as evidence of what should / shouldn’t be done

…

Parish was an All Australian mid in 2021 & 5th in the Brownlow, when he is on the park he’s a very very good player. He’s not a run of the mill midfielder at all.

Still polled 15 brownlow votes in 2023 despite missing part of season. He was and would still be our 2nd best midfielder.

He wanted to stay and club wanted him to also. No club would have been pushing him out the door, it’s laughable to think they would

A 5yr extension isn’t extravagant in the free agency market.

The injury woes since his contract signing are not ideal but that’s through bad luck / poor injury management, not list management

Hopefully he can fire in 2nd half of season for us

I mean, I don’t disagree with him.

Although Parish is probably worth very little now…it’s probably the only solution to leave him on the list and hope one day he gets a run at it.

Gerard can GAGF.

RISH.

Again, regardless of the sentiment - that’s such a distasteful and disrespectful way of saying it.

He could have said something like ā€œthere’s an argument that it’s in Essendons best interest that Parish looks elsewhereā€

But no, he went for a hyperbolic, headline seeking comment. He’s no better than a gutter journalist, as much as he thinks he is.

Why is Tim Webster interviewing John Longmire?

And what has he done since signing a 6 year deal?

You’re not paying players for what they did in the past…… you’re making judgments on what they’ll do in the future.

ā€œGeelong superstar Graham Ablett, could miss this week’s game against the West Coast Coolers. The hawks sure will miss him.ā€

I think a more ruthless club would absolutely have thought long and hard about selling high and probably would have pulled the trigger.

Parish is a relatively small, one paced accumulator who isn’t a great kick and doesn’t really run hard both ways.

He has his uses, but he was never going to be the sort of mid to build around.

The club seem to think a bit like many of the supporters on here. Relatively Short-sighted and with a clear tendency to overrate our own.

We’ve spent 20 years trying to build a team for where the game was 5 years prior.

We learn absolutely nil from our mistakes nor do we appear to learn from what other successful teams do.

Availability has been a chronic issue for us over time and we’ve done nothing about it.

We’ve got an ex Melbourne loser running the footy department and the work experience kid from hawthorn looking after high performance.

The irony of Scott talking about standards should not be lost on anyone because Essendon tolerate absolute ā– ā– ā– ā–  poor performance across the board both on and off field.

Add Parish to the laundry list of first round failures at Essendon.

Ridiculous decision at the time to give him that long and we absolutely should have traded him out. Cut our losses and send him packing at the end of the year. Pay half his wage and take what we can for him

Those three drafts in a row.
Signing Parish, McGrath and Wright to ridiculous length contracts.

We’re gonna be cleaning Dodo’s shiit off our shoes for years yet.

Wait, do people actually think Dodoro signed all those deals against the best wishes of the coach and club?

Like, seriously? You think it was his decision?

Remember when Hibberd got too heavy. Ping! Hamstring.

These slim kids we draft just don’t build well.

Don’t long term contracts need approval from board also? cant be all Dodos doing he would have had to get approval from the coach and higher ups

He was signed to a 6 year deal, after he had done a serious Calf Injury

You can’t make this sh*t up.

That’s #3 sorted. Now when are we going to ink six-year contracts for #6 and #12 ?

(Note the strict mathematical progression there, btw.)
