The board just rubber stamps
If this guy isnât the poster boy for why you donât sign average players to long deals I donât know who is.
If anything this deal should be a warning not to do the same with Draper
6 years to a worse player in McGrath last year seems to suggest we havenât learned anything.
You do use their past performance to assist with those judgements.
And ignore his injury historyâŚâŚ and the lack of cohesion with the other starting midfielders?
Of course not.
That would all be included in âpast performanceâ.
Whilst I, for the most part, agree with the sentiment.
Hawks pushed out Tom Mitchell after winning the Brownlow. So we canât say that no club would have done it.
You think that but no clubs have done it.
Give an example of another club who has done so with one of their top players at free agency?
I canât think of anyone with the exception of Rockliff from Brisbane, but there was a lot going on there. He had captaincy taken away from him, club was unhappy with his off field professionalism (allegedly) and he felt like was being forced out. He had also had injury woes leading up to.
IF there was a thought club wouldnât be pushing to contend during time that the player was to be contracted in then it might have been valid reasoning to do so but that wasnât our situation. We were building towards something with Parish (27yrs old now) seen as a key piece.
Whilst they werenât free agents Hawks pushed Titchell and JOM (both now 31yrs old) out not believing theyâd be impacting strongly anymore (slowing up/injury issues) by time were going to be in the mix. And wanting to build a new midfield group. Itâs a different scenario.
@Heppelltitis yes Hawks have shown some ruthlessness that said I agree.
A team that should have been more ruthless of late in West Coast in letting Yeo go, low ball him and send him on his way but they fought to keep him. They may be doing the low balling to Oscar Allen this time around though
PANDO
Iâve said this before. The club has to assess if his back and leg issues have any correlation to the crazy amount of golf he plays. Maybe it isnât but they need to look into it
Parish in 2021 was not run of the mill.
He was genuinely fantastic that year. Led the league in centre clearances.
If we had that Parish playing right now we would be a better side.
Bloody shame what the injuries have done to him.
How much golf does he play?
I dont think he plays anymore than an average golfer.
Probably a couple of times a month.
Doesnât seem that âcrazyâ.
I reckon we need to look into his haircut
Too long? It probably is.
That would be it.
All these injuries started once the RISH & RATH podcast stopped.
We need to start that up again.
Father Time hasnât been kind to him.
Anyone who pings a calf before 27 should in no way be considered for a long term deal.
I said it when he did it and got ran out of hereâŚ
I will do it myself thank you @Stallion
âOh itâs easy to say these things in hindsightâ.
