The fact no other club went hard for Parish, speaks loudly.

Feel for Darcy. One of the few genuine footballers we’ve drafted since 2010 (as opposed to ā€˜athletes’).

His peak was seriously good and I’m not keen to write him off at 27, but he must be absolutely shattered that his premium years as a footballer have been so splintered.

Just ask him to do the right thing for the club by retiring immediately. He’s just wasting a list space.

Wasting a list space is a huge call. Do you think he has offered less than the conga-line of disappointing players we’ve witnessed over the last 20 years?

I reckon he has achieved as much as Hooker, Hurley and Hibberd at the same age, and probably has scope to surpass those very good players.

Sure, it sucks he has been plagued by recent soft tissue injuries, but he has played 150 games at 27 yo and is well ahead of blokes like Winderlich, Dempsey etc who were properly crippled by injury.

I feel like Parish is another victim of the Essendon suppprter grievance bloc.

Oh, look, as someone who has copped a workplace injury, I really do sympathise with him.

But as a fan and member (at the time) of the club, I was filthy they threw him the contract.

No one wants to see anyone miss out on doing what they love. But a business and employer needs to safeguard itself from potential pitfalls.
And Essendon absolutely did not.

The way he’s been treated on here is unwarranted imo.

Must be tough for him right now the mental toll could become too much and he might pull the pin

He’s had one great season in 10. The others are largely forgettable. Strike a deal with his management group and let him ride off into the sunset. The business is too cut-throat to allow non-contributors to remain on a list.

The thing with Parish, is that his fans keep going back to the past performances for his justification and purpose to the club.

Nobody is talking about the future. That’s because nobody trusts him to get his body right, and nobody honestly believes he is part of our future.

What actually is his purpose?

You farken mindless sheep, that would right off a legitimate, gold plated mid who when healthy and strong tears this comp a new one. You make me sick, that you’d so readily parachute this bloke from the club.

The bloke that is so desperate for success who along with Zac drives elite standards and expectations to be a farken competitive winning team.

Just the sort of bloke you want, no need, around the club but no, you pelicans can’t look past your limited thought processes… farken sickening.

Like the injured Daniher before him, Darce will be back fit and healthy and the team will be better for it.

So a guy pings a calf before a specific age (27) and you think he’s done. Dear me!

Is he really the player you want at the club, he has a terrible defensive work rate and that isn’t something you want rubbing off on young mids.
Darcy has never tore the comp a new one he has had one ok season in a decade.

His defensive work rate being terrible is more of a blitz myth than anything else.

No it isnt his bread and butter but his tackle numbers were decent last year and his pressure acts were almost always one of our best.

The whole team has an issue with defensive transition running, including our captain.

Contracts like these kill off success.

Of course his tackles numbers are ok becuase he is a midfielder they lay more tackles being in a stoppage with Darcy it’s those half arsed chases/walks after opponents or just throwing out a hand nonsense.
I don’t disagree the team has a problem with it I think the only way to fix it is to cut the head of the snake and move on the senior players and start again the bad habits are too deeply ingrained in the side

Pretty much every decent player that hits free agency eligibility gets a lucrative long-term deal. That happens whether they stay or go. If Essendon were the only ones making this grievous error, the sooking would be justified.

They are notorious for reoccurring. As is case here.

One of your worst takes ATE.

Good inside midfielder, a below average kick with no penetration & horrible defensive effort.

Please don’t compare to Merrett there.

For Fargs sake… Injuries happen to ALL players- yes some worse than others, but they happen… No use whinging about it, the facts don’t change… Are we saying Darcy isn’t preparing himself enough to get his body right to be fully fit?.. I don’t think so… I’m backing him to get right, however long it may take and get back to the Darcy Parish we know and love…

Why wouldn’t we be? He is obviously doing something seriously wrong to constantly be getting injured.

Probably some stupid pilates classes at Pando.
