#3 - Darcy Parish thru 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

Speaking of people with NFI…

Nothing is definite.

Watching a golf show a few weeks ago and they had Mitch Lewis on. As part of the interview they talked about how much playing golf had helped with his recovery and just being able to manage the mental side of injury, etc. Worth noting with reaped to the stuff that has been said on here regarding Parish (and yes, Lewis had leg injuries)

I also like golf, maybe I can play for Essendon too.

Because it is inconceivable that a player that has battled injuries for 4 years may not be good any longer.

LOL, they are still providing Draper injury updates. Gee, I hope his recovery is going well for the reigning premiers.

It’s an article from August…

Who gives a fark that he plays golf a lot of AFL players do as long he’s doing his rehab and keeping him self fit who cares

Are you injured but still playing golf?

If so, you have chance

Oh, in that case the club is a tiny bit less farked than I thought they were.

Yes, yes I am.

Would you like a long term deal sir?

As long as it is heavily frontloaded so that I can move in 2 years time.

There’s also this article about it and how the hawks rehab guy told him not to play as much and it was hampering his recovery.

How often did Blitz investigators conclude Parish plays? Wasn’t it maybe once a week? Bit of a different magnitude compared to “if time permits he will play every single day”?

It wasn’t about playing golf, it was about staying off his feet. Just part of that was he played a lot of golf.

There was also stuff about him walking his dogs and doing work around the house. Essentially part of his problem was that he was so active, he gave himself no chance to actually recover.

Spot on it was never about the golf although blitz loved that for a moment.

It was about doing everything to get back to playing his best footy, look at lachy neale and his recovery from a calf was talked about that he did absolutely everything to get back to play being in the hyperbaric chamber daily etc

I’ll be interested to see if his pre-season is changed a bit this year under new advisement.

I think he had one where he went all out, looked in incredible nick, and got injured immediately followed by one in cotton wool and he still got injured. Hopefully new eyes of Inness and Regan can find a way to keep him on the park.

I though he kicked well in 2021, he had an extra step to settle.

When his fitness decreased due injury, his kicking also went off.

May not happen nearly as often, if the Club chose our Medical Staff in a different way.

Fact is our Medico’s not all of them, but of late couldn’t make it happen and the injuries just piled up.
