We say the same thing every pre-season.

@darkknightpheonix hasn’t changed since 2021, they have been consistent for 20 years.

I don’t think we were last pre-season, under the ā€˜old’ S & C crew

Yep, but he had a big pre-season then got injured again.

I think he was battling with a serious back complaint during pre-season last year. Probably an indication he wasn’t physically setting up for a 2021 Parish.

I’m nervous about our midfield mix in 2026.

We held onto Merrett. We bewilderingly resigned Setterfield. If by some miracle Parish stays fit, what do we run with?

Do Tsatas and Sharp get a look in?

Nothing to be nervous about really, in fact many would actually be excited about the looming mid field set up.

Merret, Calders, Durham, Sharp, Parish would be the core group, supported by the likes of Tsatas, Robey and maybe at times McGrath and Kako.

I don’t think we’ll be intending Robey to get much midfield time next year. Even if he didn;t have his back complaint this November/December, most reports had him as a forward prospect who would need development to move into the midfield at top level.

Sharp I think we’ll find time and space for. It’s fairly clear that the club sees Setterfield as depth (he spent a bunch of time last year in the 2s even when fit), and of course the selection panel are clearly a bit skeptical about Tsatas too.

By mid-year it’ll be clear whether Merrett has checked out, if so we can dump him on a hb or wing or something while we negotiate a trade for him (with someone legit about negotiating this time) and give his midfield minutes to someone else. McGrath and Kako in the middle I saw as a desperation measure when the cupboard was bare late in the season, rather than being their natural positions.

It’ll be a bit crowded at times, but I don;'t think it’ll be disastrous.

Fair enough, must have been 2 years ago where he was being pumped up.

So no Parish comment for over a month on his own thread and yet having a big pre-season. Asking the questions…. are fans just not into Darcy? Or don’t rate him?

I think he’s been busted for so long that most have forgotten what he brings to the table, kinda like how Langford was dismissed when he was on the sidelines.

Probably just want him to start the season fit before getting too excited.

He is part of the crew of players (Langers, Rids, McKay etc) that fans feel burnt by in the last few seasons with their injuries and inconsistent performances because they play under done.

SNAP!

I was going to say:

Its just been so long since he’s been fit for a whole season, that we are all holding our breath till about round 6…

The boy who cried golf?

I think after 5 unbacked up seasons of Darcy ā€œtearing up the preseasonā€ only to ping a calf and barely play, supporters are probably a little cautious.

I think everyone is just holding their breath.

When was the last time he completed this much of pre season?

He was flying in Jan last year IIRC. That being said I’m super pumped to see what he can bring if he’s back to his best. The starting 4-5 mids will cause some teams headaches

Parish hardly had a pre-season last summer. He was managed very heavily and missed half the sessions

RISH

i mean for context scoot also thinks ridley and langford are likely to make tangible impact this season.
