#30 - Nate Caddy - thru 2028

You know that show Guelfi was on last week wearing Lavender.

It’s on YT

It’s also worth noting that other clubs could have dealt with Geelong to trade up for Caddy if Essendon didn’t offer what they did.

It wasn’t.

Definetly Dodoro. There is a behind the scenes video of draft night. Dodoro clearly raises the idea of trading up for Caddy.

lol

So it was a real sad sack that reported it then got it, thanks boss

He replied directly to you in thread, probably not a great amount of mystery to it

I don’t spend all day on here so I didn’t see who replied to it

Just a lazy 23 posts in the past 24 hours

I didn’t know you had to do a post an hour you twit

I’m glad it was Rosa’s decision to add the extra 2 years to make 4, which we’ll enjoy, after the first 2 when he was out of form which of course must have been instigated by teh Dud

Didn’t Dodoro make a similar deal to move up for Jones

You must have missed my follow up post explaining that I was joking.

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t place much weight on the draft video antics. They would have war gamed the draft so many times as a group in the lead up (doubly so the first pick when the stakes are higher and possible scenarios are narrower) that that offer would have been just activating a scenario plan.

Rosa has a “Shaggy” clause in his employment contract. Any decision questioned in his first 3 years can be responded to with a simple statement: “it wasn’t me”, regardless of if it was actually him. This extends to deals / decisions caught on camera (and ones struck on the counter, on the sofa, in the shower…)

Who gets credit for drafting Caddy? Such an important question. I mean its incredibly important to ensure Dodoro is discredited, while Rosa gets Caddy added to his list of achievements.

It is what it is. Caddy plays with flair, energy and exuberance and is progressing extremely well, Rosa seems to be doing a great job, Dodoros drafting/ trading failed to win us a final and he is gone.

Unfortunately the reality is Rosa may not get us to a finals win for a decade or more. The Rosa can do no wrong belief on here may be a case of premature adulation.

Worst show on TV.

I rate Clarke as a late first round pick, on what he has produced already.

looking at his rookie central strengths/weaknesses, it even like he doesn’t have any.

STRENGTHS:

  • Kicking
  • Marking
  • Rate of improvement
  • Rebounding
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Exposure
  • Rawness

Taking multiple picks in a deep and strong draft is a good strategy.

Also rate Johnson highly as well.

Gerryn is a lot more raw.

There is a chance Murphy Reid comes back to Victoria one day.

I realise this is tongue in cheek but he was a Dodoro pick. There was that little fluff video they always put out after the draft (which looks like it has since been delted) which Dodoro was losing it thinking he was going to miss out on Caddy. His parting gift really.

Dodoro has always had an eye for talls, i’m not against giving credit where credit is due. He quite likely had a large influance and was the decision maker to getting Caddy. His issue wasn’t he ballsed up every pick, it was his rate of good to bad was bog average and he couldn’t put a midfield (the most important part of the ground) together to save himself.

yes, maybe, but there’s no indication they could have satisfied them and ensured they could have secured o’sullivan. Disco clearly thought they wanted caddy, i don’t think he was ever their target.

but there’s no need to re-prosecute this (despite my apparent desire to do so continually lol).

We got caddy, he’s coming along nicely
