#31 - Zach Reid

I was more thinking his reserved nature and great kicking skills.

Ridley will no doubt be given attention and tagged next year, we’ll need Francis or Reid down the track to take the rebounding aerial pressure off.

Is Reid the long awaited Dustin Fletcher replacement?

Harris Andrews 2.0

And Andrews’ hero was Dustin Fletcher.

Hard to know with this guy, 200cm KP players are rare due to the athletic requirements. So he must be a super athlete, else he is going to have to have one hell of a footy brain.

One thing I do know is if we nailed this draft and all of Cox, a Perkins and Ried end up 200 game players, we will win flags. If Eye adds himself to that group it will be a dynasty.

A minute into this video it shows Reid doing the vertical leap test. Am I wrong about how the test works, or is it set up too low to actually measure his leap? He seems to clear the top finger of the test quite easily.

sandbagging?

Yeah, he’s well above it, & looks like he knew he’d make above it easy and doesn’t even make a 100% effort at it.

I think Reid will become the best player of our 2020 draft hand.

He comes across quietly confident and will let his footy do the talking.

Me too. He was the one i wanted most.

He’s listed as 17cm less leap than the winner. The winner is 188cm (14cm shorter and presumably proportionally shorter arms as well), so likely fell just a notch or two short of the top.

It looks they don’t even bother to make it a challenge for athletic tall guys. That stinks.

Amateur hour… again.

Andrew McGrath won this test in 2016, beating Reid by 14cm. As per the video, however, Reid barely had to exert himself to max his possible score.

Some other obvious record holders are also listed below and some of them were clearly not using the same system (e.g. Natanui is currently 1cm shorter, but had 20cm extra leap recorded).

Maybe this is the standing leap tool, and they failed to bring the taller running leap one?

You can definitely get ones tall enough – the one below is 33cm higher than what NicNat and Gach Nyuon did.

Wow… the AFL continue to find things they can ■■■■ up which you’d think would be simple

He could have done it again and they just didn’t include the shot in the video?

There is absolutely nothing more pure in footy fandom than analysis of player heights. It is footy-stat-manna. So thread delivers.

And welcome to Zach. May your career be long and your height never waver.

It’s more mocking the AFL through the lens of player jump heights.

The vertical test is set to your standing maximum height with arms above your head. It’s not how high you can get, it’s how high you get off the ground.

Total jump height - standing height = vertical jump

Still, he seemed to clear that easy so they would have had him go again and set it higher.
