#32 - Ben McKay

Agreed. Worse than his skills, competitiveness, balance, etc. etc. is the fact that he genuinely looks mentally shattered. Like he’s got zero to give and does not want to be anywhere near a footy.

He makes Francis looks like David Goggins. At least Francis cracked the ■■■■■ when he was beaten, so you assumed he gave a ■■■■.

Does make you wonder about our system.

Play him (in Reserves first) in ruck and forward line. Will be a master move. Cannot have player so bereft of confidence in defence.

The longer time goes on, the better his first half of 2024 seems to get.

To see that period of play you need to attend the unicorn tavern

It’s going to be the equivalent of Sheils 2019.

mcgraths 2018?

I don’t recall him ever being any good. He’s had one or two reasonable games against poor opposition, but that’s about it.

watching the vfl and north have dropped logue and corr, 2 player they brought in to cover the loss of mckay.

they have dropped their underperforming backman.

we apparently need to hold the hand and tell ours he’s a very special important little boy, all while collecting 800 plus k a year.

what a time a to be a a football player

Not sure that’s quite accurate.

Logue had been there for a year before McKay left.

Corr three years.

Fair enough.

Anyway, McKay probably needs a spell.

Francis that one game against Port.

He will come good again when played in Ridley’s role, was great prior to that injury prone craptard coming back last year

Nah, that was spot on. He was friggin awesome in the game. And only that game.

There’s a really simple explanation for that: he never was.

There are a few folks on here who insist he was some kind of dominant colossus in the first-half of 2024, but the truth is he played 4-6 good games for the entire season and twice as many shockers.

I’ve said it from the time the talk started about us going after him - he’s not very good. He’s 27 and this is his 10th season as an AFL player, so it’s highly unlikely that he’s going to get much better. I’d have absolutely no problem with him being replaced - permanently - by Hayes.

I was looking through last year’s posts to see what people were saying about his performances at the time and found this from mid-May.

His 1v1 was pretty rough last year, but he was intercepting a lot better.

His current 1v1 numbers for this year are actually career best, but he’s doing absolutly nothing else.
