#33 - Hussien “Hussy” El Achkar

He definitely an upgrade on Menzie, looking forward to seeing him with Kako. He’s a clever footballer who gets in good spots and can take 1/2 chances.

What’s going to hold him back is his lack of explosive speed as much defensively as offensively. People aren’t running away from him because he’s knackered it’s because he isn’t quick.

Still hoping he plays the rest of the year.

Both of those set shots, his run up was off and he got too close to the man on the mark. Fairly easy fix and he’ll be able to add 5 to 10 meters to his range by kicking through the ball rather than under it.

Low centre of gravity, rarely loses his feet and difficult to tackle. Has got weaknesses, but quite a few strengths too.

One he puts a bit of muscle on and the AFL running will see a lot of the typical puppy fat go, will keep it off too. Seems to be following Kako who is a machine when it comes to work ethic so no worries at al from me on his body shape front.

Except none of those players WERE cut from Essendon for being fat though.

Cummings wasn’t even fat at Essendon, but he never was liked by Sheedy.

Kickett was dropped cos he didn’t touch the ball for 2 months. And then obviously never returned after that.

And Deano retired cos his knee was cooked. No doubt in part cos he was overweight, but he certainly wasn’t cut.

You have to be stoked with what he’s shown so far as an unfit 18 year old. I have no doubt that he will be able to get his engine up to the required levels of an AFL small forward. The important thing is that he’s already shown defensive intent, goal kicking nous and the ability to go and win his own dirty ball and dish out to others.

Kako is our Cyril and Huss our Puopolo

The Huss and Kako connection is underrated I reckon. Always see Kako sitting with Huss’s family and was genuinely stoked at his house when he got drafted.

Would love to see Kako and Huss both in pockets feasting on ground balls together in our forward 50.

For me we just need one more with elite speed/pressure to let those guys get to work offensively.

I love him, let him play the rest of the year. Huge upside if he has a big preseason

No, this is the No Small Forwards club.

Yes, the sign says No Small Forwards. We’re allowed to have one.

I think he can kick it well over 35 metres…he’s done so at VFL level and juniors.

I mean, both of the maligned kicks went well more than 35m… just not straight enough.

Showed more goal nous in a half than Gresham has shown all year.

Should play every game to the end of the year.

He will always have that “Tippa” build.

Which tbh at his height is kind of needed. If he was 5-7kg lighter he’d look like an AFL player but would then be too light and easily pushed aside.

You can be carrying a few extra pounds and still be aerobically fit, as i found out when when I was younger and mates were chased down by an angry middle aged man with a hefty beer gut after a knick knocking incident.

Yeah I think the Puopolo comparison works

If he wants it enough he will make it, he’s a natural forward

That 2nd goal he kicked was the loudest I’ve yelled at the footy in a long time.

It was his 4th shot at goal for the half.

He doesn’t want for footy IQ
