How has he (Sweid) been going??
I remember saying on here in Huss’s draft year, when a lot of people were concerned questioning whether he was actually AFL quality and whether he’d make it, that I’d been watching him since he was 15 and that it was no concern because every time I’d watched him step up a level, he adapted almost immediately and then ended up dominating it.
He did it at Pascoe Vale, where he won the club best and fairest. The EDFL, winning the league best and fairest. Was the best player in the multicultural academy rep games as a midfielder, the best player in the bha. He did it at Calder, where he kicked goals for fun. He did it for Vic Metro, kicking goals for fun. He did it in the VFL, kicking goals for fun. And now we’re starting to see the same thing at AFL level, with glimpses already.
What people also forget is that he’s only really been playing as a small forward for about two years. He’s still relatively new to the role. He’s just an incredibly smart footballer who seems to grasp every new level quicker than most. Every time people have doubted whether he’d be able to make the jump, he’s proven them wrong. Right now it looks like he’s on his way to doing it yet again.

I think you are vastly misremembering what Tippa looked like in his prime. He was very lean and muscular.
I think this is how you are remembering him which was well past his best both physically and mentally.

I don’t care what he looks like, as long as he can go up a gear and chase when needed. Good signs of doing that already on the weekend.
You can’t teach what he has between the ears, but we can work on the conditioning.

Yeah, for all the criticism he cops Tippa used to run quick, a long way and he was as hard as a cats head.

Needs to build his tank and this probably involves dropping 3-5kg’s. His first half was brilliant last week.

Solly (or someone) said he has been working hard and dropped a bit already I think, so he will get there, he is pretty driven it seems.

He’s lost weight throughout this first half of the season for sure. I’m pretty bullish on Huss…he’s a different player to Kako in that he’s a pure goal sneak who we need to keep closer to the big sticks. Kako can play higher up the ground; it’s going to be a great 1-2 punch for us. Add Arki into that forward half mix and it starts to look delicious with Caddy and May.

Highest CD ratings were in second half. Suggests his fitness has improved.

I was surprised people were having a go at his fitness in the match thread. Maybe because he was always having to suck in some deep breaths but he never stopped chasing hard until the end of the game
