#37 Dylan Alwyn Clarke - at Woodville West Torrens

Get him to 20 games ASAP and then 50 and so on.

Should be on 10+ already though.

Surprise surprise. Playing a first possession winning midfielder at the stoppages makes our other midfielders better.

Well done young man. May you be the mid we always knew we needed from here on in.

We have the small, quick, outside jets. Just need a couple inside beasts to compliment them. Clarke and Langford are coming along just nicely.

Langford, being more about height thsn beast, but still, its needed.

This THIS THIS is why you play kids over known quantities like Myers. Look what we have found. Look what we can find from others like Zerk, Snelling, Ridley etc. He was utterly excellent today, kept the best midfielder in the league to 11 fcking possessions and had 23 possessions, 9 contested and a game HIGH 10 tackles. Yowie-wowie.

Heppell, Parish, McGrath all played their best games for the season, Dylan played a key role that. So did playing them in their natural positions.

Clarke almost had as many tackles (10) as Cripps had possessions (11)

True.
You can of course select more than one side - one with the known quantities and one with the kids, and both could give you the same result.

But the one with the kids also gives you the future. You need experienced players, but it’s those known quantities who are flip flopping on form and impact that you have to make the call on and move on.

Yes

Deboer killed Cripps a few weeks ago. We just don’t have a good tagger

We do now.

Most mids look physically small next to cripps. Clarke didn’t. He’s a big unit. When his team mates get used to playing with him they’ll be streaming past for handballs.

From BF

“Cripps can go up gears in intensity. He just wills himself into contests and through traffic. He wasn’t doing that today. He wasn’t using his strength to shrug off. He was almost surrendering in some tackles by his standards. Clarke isn’t the sort of player who would lower Cripps’ colours. He’s had enough and that makes things terminal.”

Perfect example of focusing on one’s strengths instead of their weaknesses.

Sooo good.

And yes, he can have a let down next week (game) against Hawks.
But back him in in a 5 week bloke and get a look at him.

Right now he has the scalp of the games best player.

I’m not a fan of taggers, but on Brownlow night he should get 3 because he shut down the one bloke who could roll us, and had an influence himself.

Youth > Myers.

Cripps’ lowest possession tally for a full game I think. Two lower in 2014, one subbed on, one subbed off. One lower in 2017, got injured in the second term.
