#37 Nic Martin - all of the extension, pls

Took a bit longer than expected, but it looks like the current essington strain might finally be getting a hold of him.

Brad Scott has destroyed this guy

It only took us three years to Essington someone who looked a potential AA wing/HF.

In some respects, that’s a pretty impressive feat.

i’m hoping he had a flu or something.

he had 17 disposals but barely sighted and not influential.

It’s been a steady downhill trajectory for Martin.
It’s almost like genius Brad has tried to actively coach all the natural skills and instincts out of him.

I’m going to say it, he’s a downhill skier. Loves it when the team is doing well, but you can’t rely on him to turn the tables.

Disagree. Martin is often influential in getting us back in games. He stood up last week when Weagles threatened to steal the game.

Agree with above posters that Scott need needs to play him one position/role. I prefer him as a half-forward.

Wing for me instead of Jones thanks. Two birds with one stone.

You can say it, but you’re wrong.
Some of his best performances have been in losing sides.

Just horribly out of sorts at the moment. Brad needs to stop ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  shuffling him around.

Don’t think there has been a more obvious positional call than Martin at High HF (forward half wing). Make the oppo defenders accountable for him and he won’t have to be accountable for anything other than closing down space on the oppositions exits.

The honest reason why we never have instant successes that can sustain it (or any ability to develop AA talent), is because the multiple coaches we’ve had spend the first 3 or 4 years playing recruits in every position other than the one they are natural at and got them drafted.

They don’t settle in any position, they don’t hone their natural craft to an elite AFL standard. Instead, they get to 80 games before finally being placed into that natural role and then spend the next 60 games having to hone their skills to the point where they are AFL standard. And most don’t even get to that because they lose all confidence, get injured or traded.

The ones that do, have wasted half their career simultaneously taking development games away from someone else, and limiting their own potential - as instead of having 150 game of experience playing that role they only have half 50 or so.

I worry for Kako

For those at the ground, where was he playing?

3rd best rated wingman in the comp 2 years ago.
Don’t recon he has played a full game of wing since.

Looked like he could barely walk. I reckon we went in injured.

I saw him lining up on the wing sometimes, but honestly it was hard to spot him. Was nowhere yesterday.

That’s not possible… Brad told us he doesn’t play injured players. Ergo, he couldn’t possibly be injured. Right?

Starting to believe that he sleeps with the lights on.

Too many fumbles and weak attempts when any pressure applied.

Don the Stat saying he played Wing - arguing should’ve been moved to half back to get involved.

He was close to BOG against the eagles. Reckon he’s been reasonably consistent this year, just had a poor game yesterday.
I’m not super worried about his form.

Would love to see him settle into an every week role though.
