Clearly there is a lot to be happy with that performance, but I did notice 0 tackles for the game. I guess the fact that no one was near him meant that he was not near anyone else either.

5 goals and 27 touches at 89% effectiveness more than makes up for the zero tackles.
Our pressure forward in Smith laid a whopping 2 tackles for comparison
Midfielders generally get more tackles than small forwards.
Not knocking Martinās game, but even our best player on the day didnāt tackle.
Look, l get it, you want the bomber player to win but that quote saying 4 junk time goals beats 4 goals when the game is on the line, because he also got some cheap kicks in the back half is ridiculous.
The fact he wasnāt a full time forward means he probably drifted down unattended because the intensity was off.

Footy is an easy game when the opposition donāt pressure you. Martin found this out on Saturday, as did every Geelong player!

Maybe the coaches giving Racheleās 9 votes to Martinās 2 means they would agree with you, albeit not in the same game and the Geelong players ahead of Martin would probably have out played at least most of their Crow and Freo rivals.
So you are coming from an angle of substance, but since when hasnāt possessions and around the ground effort over the whole game not trumped goal kickers in media awards?

Rachele got 9/10 of the coaches votes vs 2/10 for Martin.

Mind you bloody good effort and super stiff.
One plays for a team thatās got smashed by 11 goals, never going to get high votes not even Rachele would have.

Almost 30 disposals and 5 goals he should get it over Rachel imo but like I said they donāt award the nom to a player in a losing team especially one that got thrashed
