#4 Kyle Langforward

Lest we forget how the brains trust wasted him for so long in the VFL to learn how to be a BBM.

“Langford’s Lacuna”

It still burns how many years he’s been wasted being played out of position.

And kick straight!

Makes you think what other players we’ve played out of position for years without knowing it. Maybe LAV is a midfielder!

I’ve always been in the 80-20 forward /mid camp for Langford , but there is some truth in the idea that he’s currently a product of everything he’s learned in different parts of the ground.

He could be the small forward that we’ve been crying out for.

With North and Richmond coming up, hope we can feed Langers and get him to the top of the table. Also as other mention his work rate without the ball is good too, had 4 tackles on the weekend.

Do you think it would’ve made any difference knowing our last 10 years?

I think Lav plays better on the mediums, than the tall forwards.

When we drafted them, I expected Lav and Langford to interchange forward/mid , with Langers mainly forward and Lav resting forward.

Lav’s really bad , and quite rare syndesmosis-type injury 6 or 7 years ago seemed to change his career pathway. He was already a slightly straight line player, and became even more so with the side-step not prominent any more. And then we asked him to play key defender behind a defensively inept midfield.

Yep.

Lav lost his agility.

He had so many exciting traits when we drafted him.

His body let him down.

He has done incredibly well to build a long career really.

Those 7 years coinciding with the tenures of Woosha and Truck. Scott arrives, sticks Langers in the forward line and the goals start to flow. Who woulda thunk it?

bullshit cj, scott wanted him as a defender.

Scott moved Langers to the forward line last season, and 50+ goals later he was still there. That is no bs, nor is it coincidence.

Maybe Nic Martin will follow Langers and one day be a 50 goal tall forward once this backline experiment concludes with a few AAs

he had him playing defence all off season and in pre-season games, lang only moved to forward once peter got injured. dont rewrite history.

2MP was injured preseason, does that ring a bell?

Was a pretty good winger / hff I thought, very hard to match up on. Never understood the hate from some Blitzers he was rarely beaten, was just not utilised by the coaches as well as he may have been in the role he had to play.

Hindsight, its a wonderful thing
