Langford and Perkins are clearly carrying power-limiting lower half injuries IMO.
It’s just another indictment on player selection policy that they keep rolling these guys (and Stringer) out to play. It’s also unfair on the players and supporters because we aren’t told what is going on and therefore can only judge their output without context.
Agree. His performance mirror the sides in more ways than one. He got that hip injury and hasn’t been the same since. Work rate, willingness to chase and harass as a forward, mental resilience. It’s really frustrating seeing how he’s fallen away. He’s a leader so it spreads.
We won’t trade Langford.
He is fine as a forward, even the best have patches where their kicking falls to ■■■■ (albeit, this is a rather extended one). I think Langford will be fine.
I wouldn’t be against throwing him elsewhere for the rest of 2024, though. He is still a good field kick which really stands out in this team. I don’t know exactly how we structure the forward line but it honestly doesn’t matter at this point. The current structure is absolute garbage so it would be hard to make it worse.
Langford is an excellent swing man. When the forward line is not seeing a lot of the ball then you move him back to influence the contest. He is an excellent 1 v 1 player.
Yes. Also looks like Perkins, Redman and Caldwell are less than 100%, and Stringer, although he looked better this week.
Don’t understand why you wouldn’t play Setterfiield or Hobbs and move Stringer to Langfords position.
Put Langford in a genuinely decent forward line as the third tall and he’ll be spoken about as one of the best in the league.
he’s obviously carrying something and he’s copping the best defender most weeks because wright and stringer are completely irrelevant.
Obviously doesn’t help that he’s copped the yips at the worst possible time but post season we might find that his action (and probably his capability in general)is compromised by whatever issue he’s playing through.
