#42 Adam Saad

We all hate Carlton but that poster is right! Nearly 6000 days without a finals win and Dodoro has been there for all of them…and our own football department has no idea…only consolation is that every club in the league also know it so the dimwits posters at Carlton haven’t come up with a revelation.

The AFL did purchase Marvel and re-furbished it and maybe have shares in other stadiums with Mikey Fitzpatrick. They pay themselves and the Commission well. The rest really can take a short run and a long jump… They are well looked after. And they want the players to drop their wages even further. No players no game. Dangerfield has said the players won’t agree to that. There goes his cushy job in AFL House.

And added something else huh !!

That 6000 days since we won a final countdown is ridiculous. Why don’t the media talk about the 7825 days since carlscum won a grand final?

Cause the Saints haven’t won one for 19,730 days

At one stage, 1976, (the year after l finished college at Swinburne) l drove a Loys lemonade truck. Crystal was another brand, but from the same factory, along with a third line, whose name l can’t recall just now. My turf was around the East Malvern region from Tuesday to Friday. Saturday l was sent to Fern Tree Gully, with Sunday and Monday off. The factory was out in Thomastown, and l lived in Hawthorn at the time. l did that job for 10 months to save for my first trip o/s. I saved $3000, and that was enough for me to backpack around Asia for 12 months.

Not Slades, Skipper?

Could be.

Because not winning a single final for 6000 days is more pathetic.

Because it’s 9136 days.

Exactly, Richmond went the same amount of time without winning a final and I have never heard a single person mention it then

Because Essendon have fallen from a far loftier, prestigious position than Richmond ever could.

The mighty Essendon of the 80s, 90s and early 00s now reduced to place holder text in the AFL for 16 years.

You’re showing your age, or lack of it.
Richmond in the 1960’s to the early’80’s were a genuine powerhouse.
They won 5 Grand Finals, and missed a couple more.
The parallels are significant.

Back on the Saad issue, you’ve got to wonder what he’s been told about the game plan for next year. If he’d been told he’d be continuing bouncing off half back then it would come down to money and contract length, plus possibly expectation around where the team is going.

But how much do you believe attacking from half back is going to feature next year after seeing the last 10 weeks of this year? I’d have my doubts, and if you’ve signed for 5 years, you’re not feeling very good.

Richmond before their fall from grace were the equal of anything we achieved. They were just down for longer (so far).

Facts are, if a player is unhappy, the money won’t keep him satisfied in the longer term.
Eventually, the player will want to trade out of the club and go elsewhere. Money isn’t everything.

That’s why I reckon it was the change in game plan that’s got him “unhappy”. It’s like being made semi-redundant but still keep your job, of course you’re going to go somewhere else.

I’m just curious as to what he’s been told since announcing he’s up for trade.

The tigers then were what hawks have been more recently. We had our 4 moments in the sun in between those 2 great dynasties.

How can you possibly say he’s been made semi-redundant?

He may be unhappy with the direction/quality of the club, but the stories about him being unhappy with his role are complete bullshit imo.

Saad seems to be the only defender that really defends one on one , win his own ball back and attack. He even finds the time to help others with their one on ones. Without this guy , the goals conceded would have been through the farking roof, and it already was. He’s a guy we can’t let go, though ■■■■ happens.

We will soon see… I don’t think a decision has been made unless we are countering or thinking of a great story on what to sell him his role is and what direction we are taking.

I think a lot cannot be answered if joe leaves, the direction may shift. Someone’s got a hard job ahead these coming days / weeks.
