He wasn’t “dropped” from the VFL, what a stupid suggestion

Short break before next game, just man management by the club.

why would he not play yesterday in the VFL then even if he was a option for the cats game?

Unless they were seriously considering him for a call up for this game?

Assuming the main training session and match committee occurred yesterday?

Oh ok, what was he?

Most likely they are giving him a training block for 2-3 weeks to improve his fitness. No VFL next week so a good time to do it.

Can’t remember any player being dropped from the vfl. He has played ok at vfl level and better than others eg Munkara.

Potentially resting him.

Short break after Anzac Day.

Wouldn’t playing VFL improve his fitness? Assuming he hasn’t injured himself again?

Mini preseason innit

Maybe they think he can work harder without the game day soreness etc. Can train every 2nd day for 2 weeks if he doesn’t play games.

He isnt injured as he trained with the AFL team all week this week

You’re totally illuminating one Blitz myth though.
Tullamarine Turf could have gotten to another unsuspecting victim…

For the record…
I don’t think there’s anything in the decision.
We had a training session on Sunday. Three hours before our VFL team played.
Whoever was in with a chance to play on Tuesday, went to training. The rest went to VFL.

the obvious question would be, what do they think his fitness gathers from 2-3 week block in season, that it didn’t achieve when he didn’t miss a session all through preseason as we kept getting told ?

They woul be looking at these 4 games coming up as a block. ANZAC day, Cats off a short preparation then 2 interstate.

Might be some funny buggers… guys playing with not much form, guys rested for seemingly not much reason.

That’s the question. Would love someone to ask Scott post game about it

He will get fitter…

again how much fitter can he get in 2-3 weeks compared to 3 odd months of preseason ?

and to get “fitter” he’d have to be doing the preseason style fitness regime, which if he’s training with the seniors, then he isn’t.

Fitter. The fitness team at the club might have something more specific they are aiming for like a certain body fat % or a 2km time trial result. What do you want me to do, put a number on it???

He could just be doing extra running instead of playing and he could get fitter then he is now and wont have to spend time recovering from all the contact injuries he would get in a game.

This is all just speculation though, he could have just been a little sore so they have rested him or they might have been considering him to be an emergency so they didnt play him just in case.

Scott said his running levels have hit best since returned to the club so there’s obviously been progression along the season

Still a long way to go to get back to his best though also noted

Hopefully this will give him further motivation to keep pushing

It’s a huge result to be picked in the 22, many had written him off.
