Surely harsh to delist at such an early stage?

Do we keep Hunter over Montgomerie?

ā€˜Need to’ and ā€˜must’ are very different things.

Absolutely 100%.

Montgomerie is 23 so gets less time. He’s been injury free basically all year and hasn’t been close to selection (has he even been named as an emergency at any point?). He’s gone for sure

Please don’t agree with me

yes he’s been emergency several times.

I think he’s good and could easily slot into the senior side

Hunter is a certainty for 2024.

Should be…not necessarily ā€˜is’.

When he is fit, he is a top 5 small forward and one of the most damaging players in the game. They don’t grow on trees.

If Tom Papley did a knee in R24 this year, announced a desire to be at Essendon on a 3-4 year deal. You wouldn’t trade for him because he is a wasted list spot next year? Of course you do the deal.

For Tippa, age is a different factor to a Papley, but he is still capable of a two more years if he is fit enough.

If it doesn’t work out, it’s not like we would have missed a top draft pick, it was Tippa or another supplemental list allocation, which we didn’t have any players we liked.

Again a really silly comparison and I’m not sure why there is a constant need to talk in hypotheticals with Tippas situation.

If papley was 30, unfit for a whole season and didnt play a single game, then retired citing lack of desire, got totally unfit during the offseason, then said he wanted to return being supremely unfit, then we took him back for a year and he struggled through several senior games while remaining unfit, there is no way I would let him stay.

If Tom Papley did a knee today and said he wanted to come to Essendon on a 3-4 year deal, he is currently the premier small forward in the comp and a supremely fit athlete who has shown an undying enthusiasm for the sport. To indulge your hypothetical, I would have him in a heartbeat.

However the two scenarios couldnt be further apart from one and other.

These arguments remind me of the Mozzie situation.

And we know how that ended.

Farewell game if he retires

They are playing Kelly in the forward line in front of him, Scott clearly doesn’t think Tippa has anything to offer to the side

I hope he gets at least farewell game against Collingwod, even as a sub is fine

Me too i want us to give him a proper send off

He had his send off when he decided to retire the first time.

No he didn’t

Ah OK so we just ignored his retirement. Got it. There is absolutely no way he gets a gifted send off match when we are still in finals contention.
