How did he look in the VFL?
With his eyes
I agree with many here, dramatic changes are needed.
It seems as someone watching from the outside that players at this club are pretty happy with just being AFL players. To themselves they already winning. Living the life. To be a consistently good team takes an enormous amount of effort and sacrafice. Look at the difference in mindset in Max Gawn. He used to be a goofy knockabout until somthing clicked and nothing but winning was good enough. I reckon there would be maybe 5 players on our list you could even consider having the kahunas to sacrifice their status quo to push above and beyond.
Time to trade the big names. Time to sack staff that dont perform. That includes board members and presidents. No more, one more year. Make no one at this club feel comfortable. Make it known you have to work your ass off to stay here, whoever you are.
Names and reputation should no longer mean anything, work ethic is the only yardstick thats going to lift this club out of the cesspit it seems to be so content swimming in.
Anyone who suggests he should get another year forego the right to complain about us next season and beyond when we remain mediocre.
He should announce his retirement
I would give him a send off game as sub
He should get a send off game this week but he needs to start.
You canāt bring him on when weāre 47 points down at 3/4 time and everyone has checked out of the season.
Let him start, run his arse off, get a goal while thereās sting in the game and Essendon and Tippa can be content that we tried to get the best out of him this year.
Doesnāt matter if he trails off in the second half. It will still right the wrong that was last yearās strange retirement.
Hopefully Tippa can get the send off game he deserves, the man has given us supporters more highlights than any Essendon player in recent times.
I donāt care if he doesnāt leave the f50 area all night, heād still be offering more than most did against GWS
Tippas my fav player behind the great James. Has given us so many great memories.
Next year Iād love to see him at the club in an off field role and playing VFL, mentoring the young lads, but I donāt think we can offer him another contract.
An icon, an inspiration to so many people. A wonderful story and player for 3-4 years. But, I think we all know the end is here for Tippa. He hasnāt got himself fit, his form is poor and heās frankly a mile off it.
If this club is serious about building a new performance and standards based culture, then thereās only one possible decision for the list management team.
I think a pre game recognition at the MCG this Friday would be a fitting farewell.
Thank you Tippa for the joy and the great moments, you came at a time in this clubs history when we needed a beacon of light. And you gave us great joy in tough times.
He got that last year.
I think its either a farewell game or he just jets off quietly.
IMO
Thatās reasonable
Yes. One more big MCG roar for Walla kicking a goal against the pies, please.
He had the joint fkn shaking on ANZAC day in 2021.
That is an amazing memory.
Jon Ralph saying he will retire and it will be hard to give him a send off game based on form in the VFL.
His form in the vfl is at least on par if not better than half the blokes playing seniors, Ralph is a tremendous flog.
Could be used as a sub, bring him on during the third or fourth quarter.
His form in the vfl is shithouse
Any other player dishing up what he has this year, in the condition heās in, would be talked about worse than Alastair Lord
And heās the only one is he, if stringer right to play then so is tippa.
Stringer is fat too, and still in better shape
I agree with your overall point though, stringer shouldnāt be playing either
Mate if I was coach Iād swap out 3 quarters of the team this week after that ā ā ā ā fest on Saturday.
