#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA - joining Tiwi Bombers

Did he play in the VFL again today? Hopefully he’s not too far away, we badly need him back.

yep

Probably not super far away. He won a bit of the ball and his class and skill is still as good as it’s ever been. Assuming he’s in a much happier place than he was, fitness is really the only issue. 2-4 more weeks, maybe?

Still not ready, a few more weeks of conditioning will help.

To be honest he looked a long way off being fit today. But that doesn’t mean they won’t pull the trigger and play him in a couple of weeks.

2 more weeks for mine

Not far away imo

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti continues to build towards a return to AFL level, with the livewire forward finishing with 17 touches, eight marks, four tackles and a goal in Essendon’s 30-point loss to Frankston at The Hangar.

Walla standing at 171cm with 8 marks, I hope you blokes in the team that are 191cm and above (21 of them) are reading this.

These days it doesn’t mean much.
Not like there’s a lot of big pack marking vs uncontested on the spread style.
Says more about his ability to find space and be in the right spot than anything else.

How will it compare to watching sidebottom get dropped by a BMI 14 coxy last year.

After the bye for me. Just let him build and enjoy without the pressure of AFL performance. No rush.

Just watched the Walla highlights from yesterdays game, and his touch seemed really good. Most possessions hit a target also.

Looking really good if he can maintain.

Not far off at all IMO. Can’t play VFL for too long.

The playing footy side of things is the easy part for Tippa. He’s a complete natural. And the running is something that can be monitored well through training sessions at the club.

Putting Tippa aside for a minute, and speaking more generally, I’ve often wondered how much input and “control” would a club have over a player’s diet?

I guess you can never fully stop a player deciding to get KFC on their way home but to what extent is the club involved in a player’s diet and nutrition? Apart from weight do they have any other form of monitoring nutritional health that they perform?

And now with Tippa specifically, his case is obviously slightly more sensitive due to him dealing with the effects of the foetal alcohol syndrome he was born with. Would the club be helping him out with this? Would it involve providing him with tailored pre prepared meals that he can elect to use if he was time poor?

Get him AFL fit and firing first. We’re only 4 weeks into a 22 game season. No huge rush.

If that is in a week or two, great. If it is in 6-8 weeks, that is also fine.

Given the lack of output from players like Ham and our horrific injury list yet again, there is a strong case to be made that we can now manage his minutes in the AFL program rather than in the VFL.

I want Voss to bury Sidey, that way he stays buried.
