#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA - joining Tiwi Bombers

Honestly… For the first time, I don’t think he’s coming back.

I have a bad feeling about it.

Even the way Truck talks about it makes me sceptical.

Mentioned in other thread that it’s COVID protocols

In the VFL games I have seen, he looks disinterested.

They’d know where he is at with weight/ GPS numbers for distance/repeat sprints etc.

Murphy is all fkn over the metrics for “high intensity” running & other related.

And he’d still be a fair way off the kind of figures he was at when he was playing his best footy in first half of 2021.

Doesn’t deserve to get games (or a new contract) until can get back to that.

How committed and hungry he is to do so is what’s being tested really.

Covid iso isn’t it.

I would trade him if there was a decent offer and he wanted to go.
Maybe a fresh environment would do wonders for him.

My preference would be GWS - Hill for Walla.

I feel like he only has half a season of VFL left before he retires though.

His current situation is arguably because of the restrictions Covid placed on his access to family. Can’t see him moving away from them permanently.

is there an option to move closer to them then?

Stay at EFC.

Bring him in. We have no crumbing forwards at all (Thanks disco). What’s the difference between one of our best players finding fitness in the VFL vs the AFL when the season is over?

We have been talking about stringer coming back too early and in poor condition, the club not holding high enough standards and failing to hold players accountable/ build the right environment for players to build the physical resilience to play their best footy.

Bringing in Walla would be detrimental to him, the club and a horrible message when we should be driving the opposite.

Support him 100%, but he can’t play afl yet

We have some crumbing forwards, apart from Tippa. Snelling is injured, Guelfi has been doing the job recently and is improving with each week. Waterman is selected as a medium, but is really no taller than the others, yet to show his pressure bearing ability but has other weapons. Then there is Smith, who provides pressure, but can’t be relied on to kick goals. Also, Tex is waiting in the wings. Next season we will one or two Davey’s as well.

In summary some are injured, some are unknown quantities, and some are past it. To say we have no one and must rush an under prepared Tippa back into action, before he is ready smacks of a panic attack.

I thought he had moved away from family and was living with his partner.

That’s correct

I was alluding more to the last couple of years and not being able to visit them etc. His adoptive family I mean. I don’t know what the situation is now, but I imagine there are still fairly stringent limitations on players public/social movements. It’s only my conjecture though.

So you’re saying we have no-one but shouldn’t panic?

We have Guelfi, and Tex is good to go. Martin was also recruited as a forward. We have options.

I’m not sure just how big he was during pre-season but he’s been back in the VFL since round 2… it’s round 7 now and he still looks just as heavy to me.

Absolutely love seeing him out there but I really thought he’d have trimmed down a bit by now.

Hopefully get him back after the bye. Fri night, 150 year celebration, FC at the ‘G. Would be fun.
