We also know your list management thoughts had us using our first pick on Munkara. Whatever the reasons are for her leaving the club now, she has been continuously overlooked by every AFLW side so to read anything into her non selection is bizarre. Clearly a classy person who just wasn’t at an AFLW level.

Imo she was a better player then Alana Barba who got picked.
It’s probably not a coincidence that all those indigenous people left so quickly…
Perhaps they had a break down in their yearning circle.

Maybe Munkara just wasn’t quite good enough?
Looks like he’s signed for Warragul because he could earn more cash there than VFL, SANFL or WAFL.

The argument is that we always knew he was a long term project who was a fair way away. And Cat B was a free list spot. So to cut the project after a year was the club not being willing to do the development work that everyone knew was required. The fact that we haven’t replaced him on the Cat B list is bewildering, but is completely in line with the club’s apparent desires to have their players delivered as finished products with no development required

Maybe just maybe Munkara didn’t do what the coaches wanted him to do and they decided he never would so they decided to cut their losses.

Let’s be fair here. They have had 12 months to evaluate him, Weren’t even worried about him being snapped up in the draft we took him in, that we took him outside the main list.
If you employed an apprentice, and after a year thought he was no good, you would move him on. And there wouldn’t be this type of carryon. It’s a business, just like any other.
Get used to these project type players being moved on quicker as the competition for best 22 heats up.
Personally, I really wanted him to make it, but I’m happy the club is not giving those type of players 3-4 years and then moving them on.

Project player being moved on is not something new.
Club telling us that a project player is a multi year project, holding him out of training and games early because bringing him on slowly is the club’s stated plan for a player from outside the normal pathway. That’s unusual, and supporters would be right to have an expectation that the club was implementing a different plan for long term development than they might for someone out of Sandringham Dragons.
Cutting and running with pretty much nothing from the club about what changed, and with no new Cat B projects to add is the bit that is frustrating. Did the club not believe in the project from the start? Was all the talk about development , about helping him settle, etc just to try and convince the fans that they cared about their Tiwi zone when, in fact, they thought it was a waste of time?
He clearly improved over the year, we knew it was a multi year project, there is no Cat B replacement and the comms from the club around his cutting was minimal. No wonder people think the club has looked for the easiest way out.
(One member of this forum told me months ago via DM that the reasons for his cutting would make sense soon when the details came out. No details have come out yet, so it feels like there might be information missing?)
